Beschreibung
We are Sara and Flo, living at a magical, historical place in the middle of the forest. There are absolutely no neighbors, just pure nature. We are located in the environmentally protected Vogtland area, only a few hundred meters away from the Czech border.
Our one hectare privately used homestead is embedded in a natural reserve zone with many rare plants, animals, and fungi. The former mill dates back until the 16th century and is now being revived by us to be a peaceful and protected place for experiencing nature with all senses. We actively try to preserve and support this sensitive ecosystem by working in harmony with nature, fostering biodiversity, and applying low-impact, regenerative practices as part of our contribution to life on land and climate action. For example, we maintain a deadwood hedge, which provides habitat for insects, fungi, and small animals, and supports natural ecological cycles on our land.
We are very open-minded people and have a passion for yoga, organic gardening, and sensitizing other people for the beautiful nature surrounding us. We live a spiritual and plant-based, vegan lifestyle.
Our way of living is closely connected to sustainability. Good health and wellbeing is very important to us through a conscious, plant-based lifestyle and mindful daily routines. The work on our land contributes to climate action and the protection of biodiversity and ecosystems. -

In exchange for your helping hands, we can teach you about plants and fungi for culinarial, medicinal, and cultural use. We have very intensive knowledge in these fields and can prepare meals and medicines together with you. Additionally, you can expect to get a professional feedback for your spoken and written German if you wish. Sara is a certified German teacher and we are happy to help you in order to improve your German language skills.

Arbeit
If you join us, we can work together on several private projects. We are not running a business and offer only voluntary work for our private homestead. There needs to be some DIY in and around the house to be done, but also gardening and wood work is required. During summer there will be more gardening, while during the cold seasons the main focus is on harvesting and chopping firewood. Many of these activities are directly connected to sustainable land use, resource awareness, and ecological cycles. For example, we work with a multi-level compost system, which we turn and shift twice a year to continuously improve soil fertility and structure.
Additionally, we are happy about help with sitting our two wonderful cats. Taking good care of them is fundamentally important to us.
It would be wonderful to have your helping hands a few hours a day. The type of work and schedule is very flexible and will be discussed on a daily basis and your preferences.
But also hanging around together, for example at the fireplace, and get to know each other is important to us. -

Unterkunft
You will have your own private room, which is exclusively used by you. We can also accommodate a couple of workawayers, if you are fine to share room and bed. The guest room has a cozy fireplace. There is a separate bathroom and toilet for guests, including a shower. Kitchen and living area will be shared between all of us. During the week, we can have a joined breakfast around 6:30 AM and dinner around 7:00 PM. Meals are plant-based, which we see as an important part of maintaining good health and wellbeing, while also reducing environmental impact. If you prefer to stay in a tent or mobile home, this is also possible. We have plenty of space on our property to find a nice spot for you. Only really large motorhomes will not be ideal for our place because the path to our property is pretty narrow.

We have two cats but no other pets or animals. In your time off, you can visit beautiful old cities in close Czech Bohemian area. The old castles and spa cities are very delightful. There are also some very special natural reserve areas close by (e.g., unique volcanic activity). Public transport is possible but very limited in our area. However, we are happy to get you to the next train station from which you can conveniently reach also the big vibrant cities Leipzig and Dresden for a day trip.

Kann Digital Nomads unterbringen
We have fast fiber internet, and the guest room has a work desk. A big external monitor is available. Flo is an IT expert by training and digital nomads are very welcome.

Big camper vans (>3,5 tons) might have problems reaching us due to narrow paths.
