… read more sont varaiment intéligent et très drôle. La famille est très occupée avec tout les hobbys mais par fois il reste le temps pour faire des jeus ensemble.
La maison est très grand et belle et dans un forêt avec une vuea incroyable sur le mer. Mais sans voiture c'était un peu difficile de découvrir cette belle régione indépendant. J'ai provité des nombreux voyages qu'ils font pour aller à la petite et très belle ville Argèles. À pied la marche de 1- 1.5h est très beau. Et il y a pien de chemines très beaux dans le fôret pour se promener.
Bref, je peux vraiment rdcommander un séjour avec cette famille! Merci beaucoup pour cette experience!

Joanna & Didier became like family to me. (hi guys! sorry it's taken me so long to write this haha) This was my first Workaway experience.
They welcomed me in their home for over a month, this past summer, from July into August. I left for a couple weeks to travel to Spain, & they welcomed me back after, accommodating me, & always providing
… read more plenty of food. The work is fair, and their family is incredibly open. I enjoyed helping them out a lot because I wanted to make this family's life easier in any way I could. They didn't feel like 'bosses'; they were incredibly familial and trusted us to do the work assigned to us.
I learned a lot of French from them, and found a caring friend in Joanna. I played music with Didier & the children, & other Workawayers that were there. Their home in the mountainside is idyllic and beautiful; towards the end of my stay I started waking up early in the mornings to do yoga on the pool deck and watch the sun rise over the sea -- how beautiful.
If you are someone who wants to go into the town often, it is perhaps not the best choice for you because it is about an hour hike down the mountain to the town, and an hour and a half or so on the way back up. But, I enjoyed the hike a few times. The beach was always worth it. :)

Seule difficulté (de mon côté), c'est la 'fragilité ' du dos face au travail physique de ramassage du bois (bûches/gros rondins), assez sollicitant dans la durée.
Je vais voir la prochaine fois (dans 2 semaines) si je peux franchir cet 'obstacle'.
=> pour ceux qui n'ont aucun problème de santé, il y a là une belle opportunité de pratiquer du fitness utile, sans avoir à payer d'abonnement 😁💪.

J'ai eu de la chance de tomber sur ces hôtes pour ma première expérience de Workaway. On se trouve vraiment au coeur de la vie familiale: tous les repas se prennent ensemble et on peut prendre ce que l'on veut de la cuisine à l'heure où on veut le prendre.

En ce qui concerne le travail, j'ai arraché pas mal de mauvaises herbes, j'ai chargé du bois dans un camion et j'ai fait aussi beaucoup de petits boulots comme nettoyer la piscine.
Joanna et Didier ont fait preuve d'une vraie générosité en m'emmenant à la ville d'Argelès de temps en temps et en me venant cherchant de la plage etc. Il prend une heure à peu près pour marcher à la gare de Argèles. De là, très facile d'accéder à de petites villes littorales comme Collioure et, en Espagne, Portbou. Pas de question de passer à côté de ces deux-ci!
Merci encore une fois Joanna et Didier, je recommande à fond ces hôtes.

… read more Didier, and their two adorable children - Felix and Lucie - all made us feel welcome and safe from the start. We were delighted to have been invited to a wonderful guitar performance by Lucie and had the privilege of Felix's guidance up a mountain hike. We often felt less like 'workawayers' and more like family.
Lunch and dinner was always shared around the dining table. The food was delicious, plentiful, and provided a great opportunity to share laughs and cultural insights. There is a wonderful kitchen available for use, so if you enjoy cooking and sharing your country's cuisine, you will feel right at home.
We had a very impressive private room and bathroom to ourselves. We always felt like we had more than enough privacy and comfort. The accommodation was hands-down better than most hotels we booked on our trip!
The work was very fair. We helped cook, prepare an AirBnB, look after Felix and Lucie, but primarily pulled weeds/brush on their beautiful property. Some of the weeds/brush have thorns, so we suggest bringing a ratty pair of work clothes. Joanna was very accommodating if we needed to alter our work. We always felt treated with respect and the tasks were clear and straightforward.
We had the weekends off, and frequently made use of two available cycles to head down to the beautiful, and relatively close beach, in Argeles-sur-Mer. Be warned, it is a pretty rocky bike down the mountain and a steep bike back up! Walking is still a pleasant alternative. It's only a 45 -60 minute trip by foot and the scenery is gorgeous. Definitely check out the nearby town of Collioure. It was probably the cutest French town we saw during our trip and fairly close to the house. The house has plenty of space and modern comforts. One can easily spend a whole day enjoying the beautiful grounds or lounging by the pool during their time off.
Our only complaint was that it was so hard to leave! If you are considering reaching out to Joanna and Didier, do not think twice. You have come across a very special family that works hard to bring the values of Workaway to life. We miss them already.

… read more make facade coatings. Facundo is clever and volunteer. Even if he couldn't speak French with the mason, he learned how to prepare the cement and worked very well.
He has also done many different things like cutting and carrying wood, sanding wooden furniture, cleaning chairs, cleaning the house, cooking...
He spent a lot of his free time with the children, playing games. He has been very sweet to them.

The work is very adaptable, from forestry to cooking, cleaning, organising and more - you have a few good options.
Since this workaway is still new, for sure some organisation can be improved, but overall J&D are making sure that everyone feels welcomed and will listen to you if you have any concerns ;)
What I loved the most was probably the meals we shared together, on a big table in many different languages (depending on who is around) !

My partner and I spent a month at this unique and wonderful home in January.
Our days started with having coffee and breakfast with an incredible view of the ocean, surrounding mountains and cork forest with sunrise! Work was generally 8am - 1pm - though since our work was autonomous, we preferred to make dinner for the group each evening and
… read more start a little later 😴. After a family lunch we often went for a walk then relaxed before making the evening meal which we all took together as well.
Joanna and Didier are wonderful hosts. They are often busy with the many projects going on in the house as well as taking their children to lessons in town - but they are still very attentive and available to help whenever you need it.
When we stayed at the house there were many workers and other Workawayers with us (around 15 in the house usually!) which made for many interesting conversations with many different languages at mealtimes!
There is plenty of work to be done - managing the forest, building, electrics, DIY, cooking, teaching the children languages and plenty of laundry. If you have any skills you will be put to good use, but if you prefer helping around the house or cooking these will be just as highly valued!
If you have a car there are many wonderful spots nearby to explore, but even without a car we loved the long walk into the nearby towns (1 - 1.5 hours each way), hiking to the Tour de la Massane, or walking to the beach for a swim.
We feel very lucky to have spent time with such kind, generous and interesting people, and could easily have stayed for much longer!

They have a million projects going on, so they mean it when they say you can do the tasks you excel at! I found my niche in teaching their eldest programming in English and fixing things around the house, but I also got to try my hand at fire-proofing the forest (which, by the way, is beautiful).

Gracias por haber me permitido realizar un recorrido de la gran casa-edificio para identificar ondas de campos eléctricos y electromagnéticos. Que los había... Cierto es que pude haber realizado diferentes como el de la brújula, la radiestesia y otros muy eficaces. El lugar bien lo merece. También una aportación a los Sistemas Operativos Linux que voy expandiendo en mi camino según la voluntad y demanda con gran placer y pasión.
