This is a is an ecovillage based on the concept of permaculture -- a permanent culture -- where the basic understanding is that sustainable individuals doesn't exist Only systems can be sustainable, and one would want to live in a system which is. With a project like this, we want to show that living a sustainable life isn't that hard to achieve and that you can actually can build sustainable systems designed for the future and not just the next 50 years.
A permacultural system is a system that does not affect its surroundings in such a way that the surroundings cannot sustain the system. That is, a system that does not undermine its own existence. There is a huge focus on the use of fossil fuels at the moment, but we're barely mentioning the fact that we are running out of nutrients like phosphorus, which means that the system we live -- in this case out agricultural system -- inevitably will undermine itself.
We have to figure out how to live a life without fossil fuels, but how? We need to be strategic and think long-term and we need to think about the preservation of our resources -- renewable energy, recycling nutrients etc..
The system we live in now is inherently undermining itself and that is why we need to create a system -- a new culture, agriculture, so to speak, that doesn't undermine itself. Recycling our nutrients is a means to that end.
So come and help us explore this new system/culture and help us figure out what sustainable living entails.
Our place consists of an organic farm, a forest, 90 ultra low energy houses, a willow sewage cleaning plant, a wind turbine, a fossil free wind powered heat-pump heating system, 300 fruit trees, 180 adults, 75 children, 100 chickens, 7 cats, 3 goats, a common hall, a common kitchen and common dinner, lots of compost, many ideas and much work.Arten von Hilfe und Lernmöglichkeiten

Our place consists of an organic farm, a forest, 90 ultra low energy houses, a willow sewage cleaning plant, a wind turbine, a fossil free wind powered heat-pump heating system, 300 fruit trees, 180 adults, 75 children, 100 chickens, 7 cats, 3 goats, a common hall, a common kitchen and common dinner, lots of compost, many ideas and much work.
We try to realize the permacultral idea via among other things our supply systems. All our sewage is treated via a willow cleaning beds that evaporate all the water and bind the nutrients -- as willow. Which we harvest and compost together with residue from the farm to recoup the nutrients and turn them into food so they can go down the toilet one more time. Our energy comes from our wind turbine which produces power for general use and for heating and cooling via a 210kW central heat pump with a heat storage. But alas even in Denmark it is not windy all the time, so we cannot run the heat-pump all the time. But don't worry we have power all the time, its just more expensive.
Last but certainly not least we run a farm with our own nutrients to supply our self with food. We try to run the farm as regenerative and permacultrual as possible, there is ample opportunity to learn farming both traditional produce row crops and green house growing plus a plethora of other projects like experiments with forest gardening, perennial crops, orchards, how to replace a wheat farm with a sweet chestnut farm (the ultimate no-till farm), nature restoration projects, chickens tractors, reviving an old eutrophied pond, forest management and mushroom growing.Arbeit
What we need help with. We primarily need help with in the farm team.
The farming team is a led by a professional farmer. The team works every day from 9 to 16 on weekdays and some weekends. The team grows:
1. Produce, herbs, berries on 1,5ha.
2. Produce like peppers, tomatoes and cucumbers in two 200m2 greenhouses.
3. The team also tends the fruit orchard.
4. Take care of the chickens/hens/ducks/
5. The team grows produces some of the vegetables from a system of no-digg beds and perennial vegetable beds.
6. Produces compost from the willows, grass-fields and farm residues.
7. The team produces plans for the farm in a nursery.
A place has a a number of old buildings and some potential building projects like a on premise shop/cafe. If you have skills in this area or is interested in such projects let us know, but we primarily offer farm work.Sprachen

It is located about an houer south of Copenhagen by train, and there is 600m to the trains station. So if farm life gets to much its easy to visit Copenhagen. Half an houer away by train is the old historical town of Køge.
