  Beschreibung

  After the move from a Permaculture Foodforest in Northern Europe we are ready to start building a new Food forest according to Permaculture and Electroculture principles. The garden is 4.300 m2, half a hectare.
  
  All buildings as well as the garden will be equipped with Electroculture.
  We also recycle.
  
  We prefer a minimum stay of 2-3 weeks or longer, but a shorter period can be discussed.
  In case of a 3-6 months long stay with lots of practice and educative talks, watching Permaculture tropical podcasts together, studying our Permaculture library, we will be able to give you the PDC-diploma (Permaculture Design Course certificate).
  
  If helpers stay on the small farm on days off, and eat here as well, we assume that they will be helping to clean the kitchen after the meal. Or if you want ,you can be responsible for making the meals. Normally we cook on turn, or all of us together.
  
  The second big double room is ready. This makes it possible to host Families with children from 10 years old too.
  With the second room ready, we would like to make a workaway kitchen in the last room in the row of doors on the photo.
  
  Other Plans are making several high garden beds, making an extra shade house, or several of them, hanging up shade covers, making a shady green growing cover in front of the bedrooms, making more guilds, seeding, making a solar dehydrator,... and much much more, painting walls inside, maybe tiling a floor.
  Your ideas of what can be done are welcome too!
  
  Highly prioritized now is rebuilding the duck pond, so it will hold water, becomes shaded to prevent evaporation, stop the erosion and replant the eroded walls. Also the holes below the duck fences have to be covered so the ducks will not come out when it is not wanted. Luckily the dog sees the ducks crawling out, but has not found out yet, that she can crawl inside.... Lots of small crisis to handle. Lots of hands needed!
  A few days ago a just born little duck saved from drouning. The mother then rejected it, so now the little one is inside the house and regularly walking on my shoulders, loving to sit under my hair... like the feathers of mother duck. Update: the little one is together with its family again and living a normal duck live now.
  
  The type of workawayer we are looking for :
  If you prefer you can start early in the morning, or we start with coffee tea, your breakfast?, and a talk at 08.00 (or later as discussed). You can work selfrelient in the mornings after been explained what to do and when. Of course I will be always available for questions or a shared drink etc.
  Feeding the ducks is the first thing in the morning to take care off. With little duckies, we feed them 3 times a day. On hot days, when you finish the ducks, you water in the shade house and the soon to be planted plants in pots somewhere outside. Watering or at least checking if water is needed is also done between 5 and 7 pm.
  Some plants have to be moved daily in and out of the sun, to get used to more and more hours of sunshine, the week/s before planting them.
  
  Sometimes we have made a plan for the next day/s and then the weather or animals does something making other things to be prioritized, or after heavy rain it suddenly is easy to plant. Then we change our plans and do what is needed or preferred. So you should be a little flexible in changing plans, like when you have an emergency at home.
  O yeh, it can be that you because of a special situation are asked to work longer that day. But of course then you will get more free time on another day. Sudden planting possibilities are seldom, and animal crisis too.
  
  I hope to learn or get my eyes opened (questioned) by you too. If you want to learn from me you are welcome to have a lot of questions. No problem. It can be that we keep the answers for during food preparation, eating, washing up. We will find our way in this.

  The 'family' exists of me, Annette, recent retired psychologist and 67 is what the calendar is saying, but young of spirit. The rest of the family consist of Mau Mau a domesticated wild cat and little Ukky the 4.5 month old Labrador. There will be possibilities to meet my extended Mennonite family/friends, as well as that we can visit a cow ranch in Neuland or east of Loma Plata, or a permaculture farm cow ranch north of Filadelfia. We can also visit other Permaculture gardens.
  
  This is the third country I live in after being born in the Netherlands and more then 25 yr in Norway, all in northern Europe. Before settling down here I traveled the world of warm countries, from Laos to Jamaica, from Nepal and Tibet to Thailand and Ecuador. I even wrote a travel blog those days.
  
  Here we speak English, Dutch, German, Norwegian, Swedish, Danish, and less fluent French or Spanish.
  
  There is a guitar you can borrow, or you can play the electronic piano, clarinet or violin. There is a Greek Cretan lyra in the cupboard and soon more instruments will again be collected and played on. Maybe a Paraguayan harp?

  Arbeit

  In the beginning we will work together, learning while doing. Later we still keep you company, but when older legs become tired, by sitting on a chair.
  
  Dont think this is all new, but in fact this knowledge have been used before and later became forgotten.
  In the food forest we will every time build soil for 10 m2 and so plant a 10 m2 guild, you can see this as a mini food forest. There is a lot to do, everything from seeding, watering, soil building, mulching, chop and drop, maintenance of existing trees and bushes.
  Feeding the ducks, cat, dog and the chickens. Closing the leaks in the duck pond, and if you like to work with wood, building a small duck house so that it becomes easier to find the duck eggs.
  
  You can be 18 or 85, as long as you are willing and able to help. If preferred we can spread out the hours during the day so you can rest in between; something I will like too.
  On warm days we water and or plant from 17 to 19.15 o'clock.

  Unterkunft

  In a separate building:
  Double room, 4 x 4 meter, 2 single beds of 90 x 202 cm, big cupboard. All new.
  Bathroom with washing machine, 2 x 4 m.
  A similar second double room - on the other side of the bathroom.
  Airconditioning.
  
  Located in the center of town Loma Plata, Today the city has around 25.000 inhabitants, but is expected to grow into the number 3 city of Paraguay within the next 5 to 10 years. in June 2027 it will be 100 years ago that the first Mennonites arrived here!
  
  If possible we eat our meals together, also when they are different.
  
  Wifi, will be on during the day. To have radiation as little as possible the wifi will be switched off during the night. We can discuss together from when to when. I am radiation sensitive so prefer that you keep your phone as far away as possible from me, especially when it is on the internet.

  Was noch ...

  There are direct busses from Asuncion to Filadelfia and Loma Plata, leaving at 06, 14 and 23 hours. We will PICK you UP on arrival at the bus station in Loma Plata. There are also luxious NASA busses to choose as well as overnight busses. It takes during the day 7-9 hours, while watching the wide views of the Chaco while driving.

  Or you can carpool: Check out Blablacar's carpooling service for rideshare options between Asuncion Airport (ASU) and Loma Plata.
  It is also possible to come by small plane to Loma Plata (or Filadelfia), where we can pick you up (LP).
  Bus back leaves Loma at x, x, 21.30 hours.
