We are both teachers. I (wife/mother) have recently retired.
    We live in Elora, Ontario.
We have four adult children (boys) between us. Our youngest (25) has just gotten married, and lives in Burlington, Ontario. We have one son who lives in Kitchener, and two that live in Oakville.

We are both originally from the U.K but we have both lived in Canada for most of our lives, with some family still in the U.K.
We live in a condo right next to the Grand River in Elora.
Nick (husband) sails, and we have a small sailboat that is docked in Hamilton in the summer so that he can sail on Lake Ontario. We hope to move the boat eventually to be docked on Lake Huron for a change, and a more scenic drive from where we are living currently.
I love cooking, reading, learning, walking our dog through the trails, and meeting new people. Nicks Dad has sails, often with his father, and is often busy with work related items.

We would love to host a single person, that would love to help us with pet sitting, and dog walking. In exchange, you can stay with us, eat with us, and become part of our family. As Nick works full time, I often need help looking after our dog as he’s used to walks and being around people, and as I like to see my mum, who is 84 years old, we often have to juggle our schedules to make sure someone is available to go for walks.

It would be great to have a workaway that is from countries that we could eventually visit one day; to learn your language and culture. We eventually would like to have a home in Italy, so that we could enjoy a part of our retirement away from the cold winters in Ontario!

We are quiet, and non smoking, we enjoy music of all types, as well as films. We love learning about others, going out for meals, and we enjoy getting together with our family, and hosting dinners. Nicks Dad has a cottage for all of us to enjoy, and it is about an hour away, which our dog Sherlock absolutely loves.

For our workaway we have a small bedroom (double bed only) and bathroom available, with meals joined with us, or use of our kitchen if wanted.

We live about an hour & half away by car to Toronto, and about two hours away from Niagara. We have family that live near Niagara-on-The-Lake , and they have a home on Lake Erie near Fort Erie.

We live about an hour to the boat that is docked at the harbour in Hamilton, and Is a beautiful spot to sail, go for strolls or sit at the cafe.

The shops, and restuarants in Elora are all walking distance from our condo, and shopping malls are all very close to us; within a 25 minute car ride, and we’re happy to drive you, or drop off for outings. St. Jacob’s is also another quaint town near us, with markets, shops, and other attractions.

Our home is small, tidy and clean, and usually organized. We are non smokers and relatively quiet. Nick leaves early in the week, as he is still working, and home very often at supper time, unless he has meetings or conferences .

We love music, and background music is always playing in our home daily. We are a structured couple especially during work weeks. Nick works full time and commutes to Guelph daily, about 25 minutes away.

We love learning ourselves, Nick loves anything to do with space, rockets, planets, music or movies, while I enjoy more quiet times, outside, walking, thrifting, and antique stores.

Our boys are all busy working, and are not too far away from us, so we still see them regularly. We both enjoy British movies and television being from a British background we still find humour in these movies, but we also love international shows too. We both enjoy learning about other cultures and traditions.

We will often try to go away for vacation at Christmas, and would need someone to look after our pets, and especially care for them like we do, with love and attention, and nice walks for Sherlock. In the winter months January to the end of March, I do plan on being away, and so the work away would have full responsibility of our pets in the week, but Nick would be here during the early evenings and weekends.

Your cultural exchange would benefit us, as we can learn about you and your culture while you practice and learn English if you need! You will enjoy exploring the area around us in Elora Ontario, with local shops, restuarants, community events, the Grand River, parks, lots of walking trails, and we are very close to St, Jacob’s and Fergus, two other places that are very quaint. . We can help you learn English, while we try to learn your language, as well as help you explore our Canadian culture.

We are looking for a pet sitter/dog walker.
We have a three year old mini/standard Golden Doodle.
He is very lovable, gentle, loves people, and really is a big part of our family.
He loves walks, we usually walk him three times a day if possible. He loves walking in the trails, stops a lot! He does like running also, but can only do that at the cottage, otherwise has to be on a leash, and picked up after! Elora, where we live is a very dog friendly town :)
We have an older female cat, who often sleeps most of the day now, but needs feeding, brushing etc., we do not let her outside, unless on a little string for our patio.

We’re looking for someone who absolutely loves dogs, and loves the outdoors, especially walking. A clean and tidy person, that can clean their own bathroom, and generally clean up their own mess. We are open for the workaway to stay longer than shorter stays, to get used to our routine and especially the dogs habits etc.

You will have your own bedroom, small bedroom (double bed ) small tv, and a wardrobe and use of their own bathroom. Meals will be provided and with us, but you are welcome to cook and use the kitchen. Our home is air conditioned as our summers do get hot! Our home is clean and usually very tidy with minimal clutter. I enjoy cooking and always try to aim for healthy choices, we are not vegetarian, but do not mind if you are, and accommodations can be made for meals. We are not heavy drinkers, but I enjoy red wine with meals, whereas Nick does not drink wine, but enjoys the odd beer or gin and tonic! We both love chocolate, but are constantly trying to not snack after 8:00 pm!
We have a beautiful patio, use of a gym, and a pool in the summer. We also have a sailboat, and the use of a small cottage. We live in a beautiful town that has shops, restuarants and many social events all year long. Elora has many tourists all year long.

With your time off, there are lots of things to see and visit around the local area, such as the river, parks, gardens, trails, shopping and malls. Toronto has the CN tower, lots of shops, museums, art gallery and places to eat and explore. Niagara-on-the-Lake or Niagara Falls are about an hour drive and a half drive away.
We have never hosted before, other than family, and are very open to meeting and hosting others. We are a Christian couple, but do not expect or care if you’re not! We do have two pets as mentioned so not suitable for people that have allergies to dogs or cats. We do not want anyone to smoke in our home. We are a very clean home. We are quite structured people especially during the work week, getting up early and often going to bed fairly early. We host our family of four boys, and their partners, and our parents quite regularly. We have a T.V in your room for your own use, as we usually only watch T.V before bed in our own room. In the summer we love to be outside, we have quite a large patio in the back, there is a gym just down the hallway, a pool right behind us that is open only in the summer, and lots of beautiful spots around the condo and town.
