    updated April 2024
after the definitive and official closure of the place I continue to take care of the cats in the village of palomino
we received a few days ago 5 little kittens, one of which I take care of.
So I will need some valuable help.
ASAP to feed and clean them every day

    Update july 2023
The shelter will close soon … 😿
I work a lot on the other side I have a restaurant and I manage a hotel I also have an 18 month old baby and I thought I could manage everything but it becomes impossible it's very hard and morally also there are cats who die every month... I need to take a break. I keep the project in mind and I want to train in veterinary care to have more freedom too and to be able to help cats in another way. the project will remain active but differently

For all animal lovers, cats in particular, discover my cat shelter project in Colombia. Refugee is in Palomino, a small village on the Colombian Caribbean coast.

Feline leukemia is a viral disease, one of the most serious diseases a cat can contract. The life expectancy of a sick cat is only 1 to 3 years. And it only affects cats and can also be hereditary. However, there is a vaccine that would eradicate this evil virus. In recent years I have experienced the death of three of my cats (Pat Blanche, Alen, Gudu), who were dear to me! Each time, I felt a part of me that was flying away ... It was moments of great sadness. This disease is devastating, especially in Palomino and the region. Here as everywhere, many stray cats are left to their own devices, without vaccines, without sterilization and this situation must change.

Therefore, this cat shelter project in Palomino was naturally born. It is imperative to inform and sensitize the population, to test cats, to vaccinate them. We need to treat as many cats as possible and find them loving families who will communicate their love to them. You know, I insist, that each cat has its own personality, but in his enigmatic gaze hides an adorable being who needs special conditions to make him happy.

A friend allows us to build the refuge on part of her land in Palomino and it is in this regard that I appeal to your generosity and your solidarity. We would have at our disposal a space of about 200 square meters on which we could make a closed construction with a care space, a reception and office space, then a resting place for cats and on the outside, a large open garden.

As a French business woman, I already manage 2 business in the village and wish to make this refuge a financially viable project in the long term. This is why I have already thought of different means of financing the project on a daily basis (vaccines, food, care) such as:

    • Partnerships with businesses
    • Regular awareness campaigns
    • An approach with regional veterinary clinic
    • Charity evenings / concerts / shows
So, this is a complete and thoughtful project that I present to you. I am counting on each of you to help me. You will not be disappointed.

If the animal cause affects you, take part in the adventure!

Volunteers will work four hours a day /5 days a week, in exchange for a room on site. They will be able to acquire new skills in the associative field by participating in various missions (with the cats and the public) and to participate in the development of the shelter (any proposal is welcome). the shelter is located in Palomino, Colombia, so volunteers will have the time to discover this charming village on the Caribbean coast and its surroundings. This village which is beginning to develop as a tourist attraction is the perfect place to relax, recharge your batteries in the middle of nature and is also a perfect spot for surfing lovers.

Palomino is a village located in the Guajira region, two hours by bus from the city of Santa Marta where there are many shops and an airport (volunteers will easily find buses that connect these two places every day).

In Palomino, volunteers will be able to enjoy various activities in and around the city: beach, surfing, hiking in the Sierra Nevada, meeting with indigenous people, tubbing, discovering the Guajira desert by the sea, visiting nearby nature reserves (easily accessible by bus): Tayrona Park and the Pink Flamingos sanctuary in Camarones. This place is also perfect for those who love yoga and meditation. If you love animals, peace and nature, you will love this village.
