Last-minute opening from April 3rd to April 24th for one person. Priority given to volunteers with good woorworking and DIY skills.
SORRY, FULLY BOOKED FOR THE REST OF 2025.
(Even though I can't host more volunteers, feel free to message me if you visit Onomichi and want to meet a local. We can have tea/coffee together and I can show you around).
Hello! My name is Alina and I am renovating my 50-year-old house with the help of workawayers, family and friends. I am located in Onomichi, a quaint and incredibly beautiful town in the Hiroshima prefecture. It's a maze of narrow alleys and old buildings, a place loved by artists, full of temples and stray cats. It is also a gateway to the Shimanami Kaido, a 70-km cycling route with bridges that connect several islands. If you enjoy cycling, the seaside and nostalgic places, you'll love it here!Arten von Hilfe und Lernmöglichkeiten

I can show you around Onomichi, and tell you about this town's history, culture and hidden spots. Locals are very friendly and welcoming, and I can introduce you to neighbours and friends.
I work at a manga publishing company, so I can share some information about this topic if you are interested.
We can practice conversation in Spanish, Japanese, Russian and English. If you are studying Japanese, I have several textbooks you might find useful.Arbeit
This Spring, I need help with at least one of the following:
- Plastering the walls (March-April)
- Building a box bed with a drawer
- Installing wooden wall and/or ceiling panelling
- Building and installing book shelves
We can work on these projects together. I am a beginner DIYer and would like to learn woodworking.Gesprochene Sprachen

A private room for one person, or two people who are willing to share. When you arrive, you can choose from these two options:
- Renovated room with a bed. For one person or a couple who can share the bed.
- Older Japanese room with futons. For one person, a couple or two friends (one futon for each).
The kitchen and bathroom will be shared with me.
Breakfast and lunch will be provided. I can cook for us, or we can cook together or take turns. For dinner, I usually snack something and don't really cook, but I can buy the ingredients if you prefer to cook a warm meal.
There is good WIFI that can be used freely. My house is close to the station, shops and temples, but is located on a steep hill, and cannot be reached by car.
My place is LGBT-friendly and strictly non-smoking.Was noch ...
You can use one of my bicycles to explore the area. I'll be happy to show you around and go cycling, swimming or sightseeing together. The weather in May is perfect for exploring the islands and enjoying nature.
The following cities can be reached by regular train: Fukuyama (20 minutes), Okayama (about 1 hour 15 minutes), Hiroshima (about 1 hour 30 minutes).Etwas mehr Information
