Hello, I live on a 50acre farm in the foothills of the Comeragh mountains. I am looking for help from July to complete some construction, renovation of a roof, stone walling and other farm tasks.
I have a wooden clad bathroom to finish, and a lean-to shed to build.
And there will be plenty of other things to do too. Such as helping with my breeding herd of Kerry Bog ponies, maintaining young trees and some fencing and what ever else comes up. So lots of variety and opportunities to learn new skills and if you have a song in your heart you'll probably enjoy yourself here, even if the help is demanding sometimes.
Your accommodation will be a caravan that has been recently restored and is comfortable but simple living.
Its a quiet location with amazing walks and views, about 9 miles from the town of Clonmel, Clonmel is a medium sized town that provides most things you want and is well connected by public transport to Dublin, Cork, Limerick and Waterford and places inbetween. Generally you can give you a lift if you want to get there. There is also a bicycle you can borrow to go exploring or get to the local villages if you like. Local people and neighbours are friendly and welcoming.
Currently Ireland is welcoming visitors but requires everyone entering Ireland to identify where they will self isolate for two weeks. This is possible on my farm in the caravan as there are cooking facilities in it and it is located separately to where I live. I will provide you with the food you like. We can work together so long as we stay 2m apart and are careful. It would still be possible for you to explore the mountains and countryside so long as you don't enter buildings or get close to other people. As a result of these requirements I suggest that stays of three to four weeks would mean you'd get more from your stay with me. There is also a list of countries that Ireland requires visitors from to quarantine in a hotel for two weeks, at their own cost before going to their destination, so best to check this list and be prepared.
I have been a volunteer host for over 14 years. So I hope you'll find my farm welcoming. I have lived and farmed organically there for over 30 years and during that time have endeavoured to understand what sustainable living really means - a very complex subject! And to farm in a way that doesn't disturb the natural surroundings too much.

You will have the chance to experience a life with less reliance on modern systems and pressure. You may learn new skills and find new challenges that hopefully you'll benefit from.
Anybody who likes to use their hands is welcome and will find plenty to do here. It also will be helpful if you are open to learning new things. Experience is not necessary but willingness and joy are.
Caravan with electricity, cooking facilities and water supply
I will supply the food for all meals. Mostly vegetarian but can cater for other diets generally. main meal will be eaten together (when possible) and the rest can be worked out to suit
The area around my farm is traditional rural Ireland. Being a hilly and mountainous area it has not been 'modernised' as much as other parts of Ireland. There is plenty to explore, castles, old cottages, Irish music, and craic in the pubs about. The farm is 20km from the beautiful rugged and beached coast, and Dungarvan the nearest town on the coast is an old harbour town and is on the edge of a Gaeltacht region
