Hi my name is Jasmine, I am one part of a collective of soul aligned individuals, who are called to We are in the early stages of the volunteer program, but my personal experience from hosting volunteers over the last few years, in my previous eco project, means that I am well aware of the importance of valuing the team, making sure that you feel welcome, that you are well fed and that you have a comfortable space (NB: The reviews on WorkAway have mostly come from my previous project, which is situated in the same valley) . I like to be clear in my communication, so that you know what is expected of you in regard to your hours of work and your time off. It is also very important to me that you have a good time and enjoy the beauty of the local area and have some good company. We plan to have work weeks, where we will have a good team of volunteers to tackle the tasks at hand with plenty of help.
This an 11 hectare nature sanctuary, with beautifully constructed eco structures that have been built and lovingly cared for by the late Bob Dixon, who is now no longer with us, after passing into spirit in 2023. We will continue Bob's legacy in good will and collaboration to create a potent container for transformation and connection. In these rapidly changing times, we intend to create a valuable and essential sanctuary, connecting us back to our organic nature, as well a supporting future generations to remember their sovereignty.

We offer a special volunteer exchange if you are nomad with a camper van - we can offer a beautiful rustic comfortable space to work online at prescheduled times. I am also a bodywork therapist specialising in Shiatsu and Craniosacral therapy open to exchanges. I teach Yoga. embodied movement and Shiatsu.
Portuguese speakers are very welcome as I would like to practice speaking as much as possible.

Volunteers on the project will have the opportunity to learn all about off-grid living, gardening, caring for the land and the trees, irrigation. The land offers tranquility and peace. The local culture here is small agriculture, shepherds, and cheese, and wine making.

Arbeit
This is an opportunity for volunteers to experience off grid living. The tasks involved may include forest management & land management, gardening, eco-building/ repairs and cooking. People who enjoy working as a team and have a reasonable level of fitness for physical tasks and are used to being and working in nature are welcome, please bring work clothes and boots.
We are particularly interested in anyone with skills in woodwork, traditional & eco carpentry, and creative land-based artwork and cob building and sculpture.
Portuguese speakers are very welcome. Please don't feel you need to speak English, I am happy to speak Portuguese.

There is a selection of accommodation, including round cob houses, a live-in truck, and in the summer months tipis and tents with mattresses and bedding.

This place feels very remote and peaceful but has the convenience of being located approximately 5 km from a town called Fornos de Algodres, it offers many shops, cafes, and a railway station with 3 direct services to Lisbon per day ( 3hrs 40 mins). If coming from Porto the motorway ( A25) is linked to our town and takes approx 2 hours by car, or approximately 2 and a half hours by bus to our local towns of Mangualde or Fornos de Algodres, where we can pick you up.
The region is scenic and beautiful and has many ancient and historic sites to see. Within walking/ cycling distance of the project, there are 1000-year-old Visigoth graves carved into the granite rocks. 5000-year-old Neolithic dolmens and Knights Templar chapels. We have miles of peaceful tracks traversing uninhabited regions with the occasional sight of a shepherd and his sheep or a farmer tilling the land.

We are open to.volunteers who have their own camper vans. We can offer a special exchange of 8 hours work a week for a flat park up and the use of the facilities: the shower, kitchen, electricity, the internet with a comfortable room to use during certain hours on prearrangement.

There is lots of flat land to park on which is accessible by a small track ( 200 metres ) that's a little rough in places, I have no trouble bringing my Mercedes Sprinter camper down it.
