  We are an alternative school in Shimonoseki, Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan, a place surrounded by nature, ocean, mountains and rivers. We operate a school for infants to 12-year-olds, aiming to develop healthy minds and bodies in children. We believe that children are born with the ability to grow healthily, and that by accepting them as they are, they can fully utilize that ability. We believe in the power that children have in themselves, whether it is rainy or sunny, and value growing together with children in nature, creating a place where they can become their true selves while playing in nature and communicating with others. We would love to see people who love nature and are even slightly interested in education and food education come and visit us!
  
  
  日本の山口県下関市という地域で、海、山、川に囲まれた自然豊かな場で、オルタナティブスクールをしています。子ども達の健やかな心と体を育むことを目的とし、 乳幼児から12歳までを対象とした学校の運営をしています。
  
  「子どもは自ら健やかに成長する力を生まれながらに持っており、 ありのままをそのまま認められることで、その力を存分に発揮できる」 と私たちは考えます。 雨の日も晴れの日も、自然を舞台に子ども達が持つその力を信じて、 子どもと向き合い、共に育ち合うことを大切にし 「自然の中で遊び、人と心を通わせながら “自分” になっていく場」 をしています。

  Last month, a Spanish exchange student who I happened to meet on a bicycle trip stayed at our house for two weeks. He really liked the atmosphere of my family. Also, many people come and go to our house every day, so I think we can have a lot of different interactions. His wife is very interested in food education, and I think we can learn a lot about Japanese food and health through the alternative school.
  
  先月、たまたま知り合った自転車旅行していたスペイン人の留学生が我が家で２週間ホームステイをしていました。彼は私の家族の雰囲気をとても気に入ってくれました。また、我が家は日々たくさんの人が出入りをし、色んな交流ができると思います。
  奥さんは食育に大変関心があり、またオルタナティブスクールを通して日本の食事や健康のあり方についてもたくさん関わることができると思います。

  Arbeit

  A staff meeting is held from 9am, where participants talk about how they are feeling and what they want others to hear. Activities start at 9:30am and end at 3:30pm. At the end of the activity, participants reflect on their interactions with the children, how they felt at the time, and what words they used. The activity involves spending the day in nature with children. Participants decide for themselves what to do each day. *Only available to those who have a visa and work permit. Also, only available to those who have insurance in case something happens.
  
  
  朝９時〜スタッフのミーティングをし、ミーティングでは今の感じていること、聴いて欲しいことを話します。
  活動は９時30分〜はじまり、15時30分に終わります。活動終わりには、子供達と関わったやり取りや、その時感じた事、どんな言葉かけをしたか、などのふり返りをします。
  
  活動は１日を自然の中で子供と共に過ごしてもらいます。１日何をして過ごすかも、自分で決めて過ごすをします。

  Unterkunft

  Please use one of the rooms in our house. The toilet, bath, and kitchen will be shared, but you are free to use them as you wish. The property is also spacious, so you can grow vegetables in the field. We would like to welcome you as a member of the family. Meals will be provided by my wife. You can also eat what you have made yourself. I would love to try your specialty dishes!

  トイレ、お風呂、キッチンは共用になりますが自由に使ってもらって大丈夫です。また、敷地も広く、畑で菜園をしてもらっても大丈夫です。
  家族の一員として、お迎えしたいと思っています。
  食事は奥さんが作ったものを提供します。また、自分で作ったものを食べても良いです。是非、あなたの得意料理も食べてみたいです！

  Wi-Fi is available. Buses, convenience stores, and hospitals are a 1-minute walk away. The station is a 30-minute walk away. A supermarket is a 20-minute walk away. It is in the center of Shimonoseki city, so it is quite easy to access tourist spots. It is also rich in nature, with mountains, the sea, and rivers nearby. Wages and rewards will be paid based on the wages of alternative schools in Japan. In addition, we will support you free of charge to experience activities at an alternative school that you cannot experience anywhere else.
