  My project is to become fluent in Greek and I need somebody who is patient enough to help me to rise from my B1 level.
  
  I'm 72 years old, my wife 65, both retired, living in a contiguous house at the green border of the city, next to fields and woods, an ideal place to go for walks, bike rides and other excursions made easy by efficient public transport. Our bilingual city Fribourg/Freiburg is situated at the language border of French and German, where these two cultures mix in a stunning way with other cultures of plenty of migrants. It is a small and lively town with a nice medieval center and only a twenty minutes' train ride away from Switzerland's capital Bern.

  Being from different cultures ourselves, speaking various languages and having travelled around the world, we are aware of the issues of diversity and multiculturalism, dealing with them every day.
  As I was a language teacher and my wife a nurse, we are still active in the social fields of education and health, such as helping migrants to integrate in the local society, easing the strain of everyday life, or dealing with prevention and effects of climate change, offering or exchanging our skills always on a voluntary basis.
  Your own social activities will, of course, depend a lot on your interests, and we'll try to advice you at the best we can!

  Learning Greek by myself for several years now, I'm looking for someone being able to help me to become more fluent in Modern Greek by means of everyday conversation and talks "about everything under the sun". I'd also like to learn and discuss about Greek culture, both modern and ancient, as well as to understand better the actual Greek society ...
  This is the main issue. If you are attentive to any occasional help in kitchen, house and garden, that is welcome, too, but secondary.

  I'm a linguist, and all my life through I was a teacher of German as a Foreign Language for adult students, so there is some know-how to support your own language learning. My wife Carmen does not learn Greek, but is happy to brush up her (low level) English. We usually speak together Spanish, as well as French and German (or Swiss German) with our local friends. Thus, if you are interested in improving any of these languages with us, we can support you with occasional language exchanges, as this is a multilingual household.

  Unterkunft

  You will have a room on your own, right at the entrance of the house, with your own bath room (shower). The double bed can be converted into a sofa and make your room bigger. Normally, we will cook and eat dinner together in order to have our conversation.

  Was noch ...

  Fribourg is surrounded by mountains, woods, lakes, rivers as well as picturesque cities and villages. As Switzerland is a small country and well-connected by public transport and highways, you can reach more remote places in 1-2 hours. We'll advice you according to your interests.
