Lucie came to my place for three weeks, and she was a great help. Mainly she helped me with the garden, weeding vegetable beds, preparing them for plantation, planting seeds, tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers...and making compost for the next season. Lucie is a very independent person, attentive, polite, respectful, and adventurous. I liked that she was very keen to learn about soil fertility and Permaculture, so we had many interesting conversations.
And she is also a traveler and a writer. For me it is very valuable that her voice can arrive to many people and she can contribute to the cultural evolution we need in our World, based on respect and care for the Earth.
So if you have the chance to meet Lucie, do not hesitate to host her!

Spain was a matter of my heart from the very beginning. Passion for Nature related agriculture and mountain hikes with wonderful views brought me to Sierra de Gata and it was a very good choice. At Javier's farm I stayed for three weeks and the amount of inspiration, ideas knowledge and permacultural support for my own projects I brought from
… read more there was simply unbelievable. Javier is very kind, can cook delicious meals and his way of explaining how he takes care of his garden resonates with me very well. As I need lot of time for myself I appeciated separate volunteer house. Outside shower and toilet with a view to the garden was very nice experience too. I stayed at four WA hosts till now and Javier's place was the best of all. I came there in late April and helped with cleaning high beds, sowing beans, planting tomatoes, preparing pile of compost and also cooking some meals. Thank you :)

Lea and Noel came to my place for a couple of weeks, and the experience was excellent. They were helping mainly with gardening: weeding, harvesting, planting seeds...they have experience with it, so i felt confidence to leave them helping at their own pace. They have initiative and common sense.

They were helping me with some house repairs, and they were drawing and painting some little pictures for house decoration.
They created a deep relation with my dog and my two cats, who surely will remember them!
And the most important to me, it was very pleasant to share some time with Lea and Noel, having interesting conversations and enjoying their company. They are joyful, kind, respectful and funny.
Thank you Lea and Noel for coming and help me with project! You will be always welcome.

We enjoyed our time picking weeds in the garden, taking our first spring swims in the river, throwing pine combs for his dog Zorya, cuddling with the cats Gatino and Tiza, eating lunch and dinner together. I have felt really wellcome and considered. I have been able to participate in each of the tasks to be carried out, because he makes me participate in the day to day. It was a very good experience to host Marta. She was very attentive to the needs of the place and helpful with different tasks. She is a problem solver, and she has the ability of always searching for solutions. She is a master of maps, so she created a very nice map of my place, with interesting data which will help me with the designing process.
… read more She has a deep knowledge of different computer programs with very useful information, and knows where to search for relevant information in many fields.
Also she was helping a lot with the dairy tasks...cleaning, doing the washing up, cooking (she is a very good cook)... and always with a positive attitude. She was collecting chestnuts, harvesting veggies, doing some forestry work, cleaning of brambles, and helping to organize some stuff. And peeling a big amount of chestnuts! And she is polite, kind and has knowledge in many areas.

Thomas was an excellent workawayer. He was carrying out his tasks with attention, care, and enthusiasm. He was helping with clearing up the forest, creating a drainage canal for water, organizing materials, removing compost and a bit of gardening. He was carrying out his tasks with a positive attitude and good mood, and he was very involved in the project. Not only doing what i asked but also finding other things to improve in the place.
It was very comfortable to have him around, he was also helping with dairy tasks, like doing the washing up, cleaning and cooking. His arepas and dhal are really good! And he has a lot of knowledge about trees, plants and History. He is open minded and you can speak with him about anything. He has an interesting life and visited many places, and that is always very inspiring.
I totally recommend Michal to any host. He will be very helpful wherever he is.

I absolutley loved my 2 weeks stay at Javi's finca. The place is very quiet in the middle of the pine forest with a river at the border which is great for relaxing among trees or splashing when it gets hot. There is rather big vegetable garden, olive and fruit trees orchard and the place which will be future food forest. The animals - the dog and
… read more two cats- are absolutley adorable. I did some gardening work, some preserves making when it rained and helped with some roof repairs.
The finca is run according to permaculture principles. Javi has lots of experience in permaculture so I really recommend the place if you want to learn more about it.
He is a very accomodating and flexible host and gave me freedom to get on with my tasks in my pace. He's an amazing cook too. He also helped me with my Spanish.
I wish I stayed longer than two weeks. I will miss our inspiring talks. Thank you Javi for having me at your place. I hope to be back one day soon.

A person who is deeply connected to nature and to himself where I got a lot of inspiration from and was able to share deep conversations with - something for which I will be eternally grateful for. I learned about the Pharma culture as a lifestyle but also the importance of the three M's and I got to enjoy Javier's cooking skills and eating vegetables straight from the garden. Zorya, a furry family member with lots of love to give - be prepared to throw cones and she'll show you her appreciation.

She was also helping me to organize my work and prioritize tasks. She has very good problem resolution skills and she knows to ask the right questions.
Viktoria is also very good in connecting with people. She has a natural ability to understand, listen and help others. She is also working as a coach.
In general Viktoria is very easygoing, respectful, adaptable and optimistic. To share some time with her was an enriching experience.
She is an adventurous person, connected to Nature, who follows her heart. And this is always very inspiring, and has an impact in people around.

Do not hesitate to go and help out Javier on his finca. I spent 2 and a half weeks with him, and only left because I had a plane to catch; I had a wonderful time there.
Javi is a lovely person, a great chef and very knowledgeable in many areas- I learnt a lot from him.

His vegetable gardens are very well developped, so we could harvest whatever we wanted to prepare a meal!
The volunteer house was super comfortable and well equipped.
Last but not least, his dog, Zorya, is pure love: the sweetest, most gentle soul you'll ever meet, and she is great company!

It was a great experience to host Roxy. She was my first volunteer, and i am very glad that she came to my place and gave her personal touch to the project.
Roxy is a senseful and honest person. She was carrying out her tasks with positive mood, care and an attentive attitude. So i totally trusted her and i had confidence in leaving Roxy working
… read more on her own. Also, when i had to go out, i felt comfortable to have her in charge of the place.
She was harvesting vegetables, watering, removing weeds, building bamboo structures for tomatoe plants, preparing food preserves, collecting medicinal herbs, cutting brambles, mulching the vegetable beds, preparing a compost pile, helping with soil regenerative techniques, taking care of the hen house...She also made from the volunteers space a much nicer and cozy place.
Apart from this, Roxy was very helpful with all the dairy tasks. She was helping me with the cooking, some times cooking her "specialties", washing up, cleaning, making bread, and many other things, without being asked to do so. And she is a master in optimizing spaces. My food wardrobe was transformed into another one in which you can actually see and find what you need.
And she was able to create a very deep relationship with Zorya, my dog, who surely will remember her forever. She has a good hand with animals (specially those who don't fly :) ).
But most important of all, it was very pleasant to share some time with Roxy, and i feel a lot of gratitude to her and appreciate her honest help in my place and her commitment with the project. I would truly recommend her to any host, and would be very happy to host her again.
