🌿 Workaway at Gut Neuensund
Hi there,
we’re looking for 2–3 reliable Workawayers to support us at our baroque estate in the Szczecin Lagoon Nature Park, in the northern Uckermark (northeastern Germany).
This is a quiet and rather remote place. Life here is simple, sometimes physically demanding, and shaped by nature, animals, and ongoing practical work. It is not a social hostel environment, but a small working place with a calm atmosphere.
🛠️ Where We Need Help
Depending on your experience and interests, tasks may include:
🏡 Guesthouse
Groups stay in our historic Inspector’s House (8 bedrooms).
Tasks include:
Cleaning between stays
Preparing beds
Laundry
⛺ Glamping (May–September)
Preparing tents for incoming guests
🍲 Team Lunch
Cooking lunch (Monday–Friday) for 5–8 people
☕ Gastronomy (optional)
If you are an experienced or passionate cook, there is the possibility to:
Run small bistro / café formats
Organise weekend pop-ups
🐎 Horses
We breed horses and need help with:
Feeding, mucking out, and daily care
Bringing horses to and from the fields
If experienced: groundwork and/or riding.
Working calmly and respectfully with animals is essential.
🔨 Property & Outdoor Work
There is ongoing work across the estate (approx. 8 hectares plus horse pastures):
Supporting renovation work
Building and repairing fences
Chopping wood
General maintenance
Working in the park and on the land
This part can be physically demanding and outdoors in all weather.
🌱 You Might Be a Good Fit If You…
Are comfortable with quiet, rural surroundings
Can spend time on your own without needing constant social interaction
Are reliable, practical, and take responsibility for your tasks
Are okay with physical work and a simple daily structure
You are probably not a good fit if you are looking for:
a very social, group-based experience
nightlife or lots of activity
a highly structured programme
🏡 What We Offer
Accommodation either in:
one of our two Bauwagen (tiny homes) in the park
or a guest room in the riding arena (private toilet, shared shower)
Shared kitchen and bathroom
Common room with Wi-Fi, large table, and coffee station
Two bikes to explore the area
Swimming lake (1.2 km) and walking trails nearby
Regular lifts to supermarket and train station
👋 Who We Are
We are Nina and Albrecht, both in our forties. After many years in cities, we moved to the countryside seven years ago. We are passionate about restoring historic buildings, nature and horses, and both have a background in fine arts.
We live here together with Frank, our full-time employee, and Heiner, an older member of our team and family on the property.
📍 Location
Gut Neuensund is a rural estate surrounded by forest and farmland.
The nearest small town with train station and supermarket is about 10 km away.
Directly behind the park begins a protected nature reserve, and the wider area is part of the Szczecin Lagoon landscape.
For those who enjoy being outdoors, there are excellent opportunities for hiking and long walks, cycling, observing wildlife and spending quiet time in nature.
There is also a nearby bird sanctuary, making the area especially interesting for birdwatching.
From the nearby town, you can also visit:
Szczecin (Poland)
the Uckermark countryside
the Baltic Sea
Or simply stay here and enjoy the quiet surroundings.
Couples are welcome.
