  We are an English couple in our 50s who moved to Spain in 2015. Everyone who visits us falls in love with this part of the Costa del Sol, and we feel very fortunate to call it home.
  
  We live in a three-storey house close to the centre of Torre del Mar, approximately 30 minutes by car from Málaga Airport. The town centre is around a 10 minute walk away, with Torre del Mar’s beautiful beaches just another five minutes beyond that.
  
  We are both non-smokers and ask that guests do not smoke inside our home.
  
  We are primarily looking for help with painting, decorating and general maintenance in and around the house. Ideally, we would like to welcome someone with painting and decorating experience, and it would be helpful to see photographs of projects you have previously completed. However, we are also very happy to hear from enthusiastic and capable DIYers with a good eye for detail.
  
  Couples are welcome too. If only one of you has painting or decorating experience, there are plenty of other ways for the second person to help, including cooking, cleaning and general household tasks.
  
  We both work full-time, although Rachel sometimes works from home and Shaun does so occasionally. We would therefore particularly appreciate Workawayers who are comfortable working independently, using their initiative and spotting tasks that need attention.

  Torre del Mar sits between the Mediterranean Sea and the Sierra Nevada mountains, making for spectacular views. Compared to much of the Costa del Sol, it has managed to retain a great deal of its authentic Spanish atmosphere, despite an increase in tourism. A long promenade along the water has clubs, excellent seafood restaurants, cafes and more, and the wide unspoilt beach is superb.
  
  Our house is a short (10 mins) walk from the town centre and a further 5 mins walk to the beaches. There is some English spoken in the town, but this will be a great opportunity to practice your Spanish.
  
  We are situated at the top of a steep hill, so offer some great views of both the mountains and sea.
  
  There are great bus links to Malaga, Nerja and surrounding areas from Torre del Mar.

  Arbeit

  We are looking for practical, proactive help with general maintenance around our three-storey home. Our main priorities are painting and decorating, although tasks may also include minor DIY projects, general housework, cleaning and occasionally valeting our cars.
  
  Experienced painters and decorators would be especially welcome, but we would also be delighted to hear from capable and enthusiastic DIYers with a good eye for detail.

  Unterkunft

  You will stay in a private basement studio with a double bed, bathroom and shower, comfortable lounge area with a TV, and a dining space. The studio has its own external entrance, as well as internal access to the main house.
  
  You will also be welcome to enjoy the various terraces around the property. The only shared facility is the kitchen in the main house; all the facilities within the studio are for your private use.

  Torre del Mar is a wonderful place to enjoy your free time, with a relaxed atmosphere and plenty to see and do. The long beach and palm lined promenade are perfect for swimming, sunbathing, walking or running. Bicycles are not provided at the property, but they can be hired in town for exploring the promenade and surrounding area. There are also beach and water sports available, as well as many cafés, tapas bars and traditional chiringuitos where you can enjoy local food and fresh seafood.
  
  You can walk along the coast to the fishing harbour at Caleta de Vélez, or visit historic Vélez-Málaga with its old streets, fortress, churches and local markets. Nature lovers can explore the walking and cycling routes of the Axarquía, discover traditional white villages or head into the surrounding mountains.
  
  Torre del Mar is also a convenient base for day trips. Bus services connect the area with Málaga, Nerja and the Nerja Caves, while Frigiliana and other villages of the Axarquía are also within reach. Having your own transport gives you more freedom, but there is still plenty to enjoy locally without a car.
  
  Whether you prefer relaxing by the sea, experiencing Andalusian food and culture, spending time outdoors or exploring nearby towns, the area offers a lovely balance of peaceful days and new experiences.
