  We as a family of 8 people altogether are working to set up a project near Shillong, which is both a help to the village nearby as well as to sustain our family through the income from guests who come to kayak in this state. We live by a river which is 10 Kms away from the nearest town and it's a beautiful hilly, jungle kind of life but no wild animals. We have been helping some of the local village boys who are extremely poor some never been to school, to learn kayaking. Two of them are now raft guides in North India. 5 are now training here daily.

  This part of northeast India is very unique with a matrilineal culture. Guests can do a lot of sightseeing, caving etc. It's a tourist destination and plenty of things to do. Beautiful waterfalls, living root bridges, caves, etc are the attractions here. It's knowns to be the world's wettest place. Taxis can be hired for sightseeing. To reach our place there's roads but a bit rough.
  
  In exchange for your help we can offer board and lodge and also use of kayaks and gears for those interested to learn kayaking. It's a beautiful hilly location away from towns and cities, very peaceful with some class 3 and 4 rapids in our backyard.
  There's a small tea estate in front of us where you can get to pick tea leaves for them if interested.

  Arbeit

  We have built 3 A frame cabins for guests who come to kayak in this northeast state of India Have built a house for our family and building a good size kitchen. We need help of carpenter, electrician and anyone with experience in building with wood and steel. If someone has any knowledge and skills of setting up a mini hydro power, it will be great to have that.
  
  We have most of the basic power tools like drills, grinder, sander,jig saw, router, small welder etc.

  Unterkunft

  We can spare one of the cabin which has attached toilet bathroom with two beds that can be joined together if needed. Inside of the cabin is insulated with bamboo ply which gives a beautiful cozy feel. The look out from the cabin is the river and the jungle across it. Guests eat with us and and so far we have had excellent feedback about the quality of food provided. Good job means good food.

  Was noch ...

  We are basically Christian mission oriented family but not forcing ourselves on others. All are welcome. We have been in this location for 4 years now. For the first six months we lived in tents without electricity, toilets etc. But now we have all those things. We are settingup this place in an eco friendly way.
