  About us and our home
  
  We are a family of five living in a three-storey house on a hill overlooking our village, with beautiful sea views. We are a friendly and relaxed family in our early 40s with three children (boys aged 10 and 7, and a girl aged 5).
  
  During the summer, the mum and children will be away, while the dad will continue working from Monday to Friday. During the day, we need help taking care of our two senior dogs.
  
  We are non-smokers and we kindly ask that our Workawayers do not smoke in the house or on the terrace. The house is equipped with fire sensors
  
  Our dogs
  
  We have two Podenco Canario dogs:
  
  Toffi (14 years old) is still playful and quite active. She lets you know when she needs to go outside, loves being in the sun, and enjoys her walks.
  
  Jade (15 years old) is very sweet and fully alert, but she can no longer walk due to arthritis in two points of her neck. She spends her time lying down and needs help when she does her needs. She clearly lets you know when she is hungry, thirsty, or needs to be cleaned. She especially loves carrots!
  During the summer heat, she also needs to be gently turned from time to time to avoid sweating. When the dad is at home, he will take care of bathing her and handling outdoor needs.
  
  We are looking for one person or a couple who can:
  
  Take Toffi out for walks
  
  Change Jade’s towels and washable pads when needed during the day
  All care required is gentle and based on routine; no medical experience is needed, just kindness, patience, and love for animals.
  
  The house
  
  Our house has three levels:
  
  Ground floor: kitchen, laundry room, living room, terrace, and a small garden where the dogs stay
  
  First floor: the family’s living area
  
  Lower floor (-1): private guest bedroom and private bathroom (the bedroom has two windows, the bathroom has a ventilation fan)
  
  You will have your own quiet and private space.
  
  The area
  
  Our home is located above the village, on a hill with sea views.
  
  About 20 minutes on foot to the local bus stop, with buses every 15 minutes to the island’s capital
  
  Beaches, shops, and a shopping center are all in town
  
  10 minutes from the airport
  
  It’s a peaceful place, well connected, and perfect if you enjoy calm days, sea views, and caring for animals.

  Staying with us offers a mix of Italian family life and Canarian island culture. We are an Italian family who has been living in Fuerteventura for about ten years and is fully integrated into the local community, so Workawayers can experience both cultures in a very natural way.
  
  During the summer, the island comes alive with artisan markets, local fiestas, and open-air concerts, giving plenty of opportunities to connect with local traditions and people. Life here follows the rhythm of the sun and the ocean: days are long and bright, sometimes windy, sometimes hot, but always filled with incredible light.
  
  Living on the coast means enjoying beautiful seafront promenades (paseos marítimos), perfect for walking, jogging, or simply watching the ocean. In our town there is also a harbor, where it’s possible to see or practice various water sports.
  
  Fuerteventura is a paradise for exploration: wild landscapes, volcanic paths, and amazing walking and hiking routes all over the island. While helping with our home and pets, Workawayers can experience a relaxed island lifestyle, learn about daily life in the Canary Islands, and enjoy the balance between nature, culture, and slow living.

  Arbeit

  We are looking for a caring and responsible person (or a couple) to help us with daytime pet-sitting during the summer, while the dad is at work (Monday to Friday).
  
  The help mainly involves caring for our two senior dogs:
  
  Taking Toffi (14 years old) out for regular walks. She is friendly, enjoys being outside, and lets you know when she needs to go out.
  Assisting Jade (15 years old), who is fully alert but no longer able to walk due to arthritis. She stays lying down and needs help when she does her needs: changing washable pads and towels, keeping her clean, and gently turning her during hot days to keep her comfortable.
  
  No medical tasks are required. When the dad is at home, he will take care of bathing Jade and managing the more demanding tasks.
  
  This role is ideal for someone who loves animals, is patient, gentle, and comfortable caring for elderly dogs. The routine is calm and home-based, leaving plenty of free time outside the necessary care moments.

  We are happy to offer a language exchange (English and/or French), especially in a family context. However, it is important that Workawayers have a basic knowledge of Spanish or Italian, as this is necessary for everyday communication, especially related to the dogs’ care.

  Unterkunft

  Our house has three levels:
  
  Ground floor: kitchen, laundry room, living room, terrace, and a small garden where the dogs stay
  
  First floor: the family’s living area
  
  Lower floor (-1): a private guest area of about 30 sqm, including a bedroom and a private bathroom
  
  The guest bedroom is furnished with a double bed, wardrobe, and smart TV. The private bathroom has a double sink and a bathtub.
  Being partly underground, this space stays naturally cool in summer, while still enjoying natural daylight thanks to two windows in the bedroom and additional light coming from the large stairwell windows.
  
  You will have your own quiet and private space, ideal for relaxing or working remotely. Wi-Fi is available throughout the house.
  
  The kitchen is fully available for your use. There are several supermarkets in town offering a wide variety of products. As only the father will be staying in the house and he usually eats only in the evening, you will have plenty of space in the fridge and pantry for your own food.
  
  Please note that we offer accommodation only (no meals included), so Workawayers will take care of buying and preparing their own food.

  Transport options are simple and convenient. From our house, it takes about 20 minutes on foot to reach the local bus stop, with buses running every 15 minutes to the island’s capital. Our town also has beaches, shops, and a shopping center, and we are only 10 minutes from the airport.
  
  During free time, there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy the island: walking and hiking, outdoor sports, spending time by the sea, water activities, or simply enjoying the open spaces, fresh air, and relaxed island rhythm that Fuerteventura is known for.
  
  We live a calm and family-oriented lifestyle. The house is non-smoking, and we kindly ask that this rule is respected.
  
  From Monday to Friday, the father is usually out of the house from around 7:00 am to 7:00 pm due to work. Weekends are more relaxed and are dedicated to family time, taking care of the house and dogs, and going out.
  
  Please note that one of our dogs requires regular attention every 2–3 hours during the day for feeding or changing, even though she remains lying down (she has a very good appetite 😅). For this reason, this experience is best suited to someone who is comfortable spending a good amount of time at home and enjoys a quiet, caring routine.

  Our home can suit digital nomads with flexible schedules. Wi-Fi is available, and there is a table and chairs suitable for working with a laptop. Dog care is spread throughout the day, with short tasks every 2–3 hours, so this experience works best for people who work from home and don’t need to be out all day or in long, uninterrupted meetings. The house is generally quiet during weekdays, making it easy to focus, and free time can be enjoyed between care routines.

  Platz zum Abstellen von Camper Vans

  There is space to park a campervan directly in front of our house, and other campervans are often parked in the same area. In town, there is a fuel station with facilities for waste disposal. Campervans can be used freely during time off to explore the island. However, please note that we do not provide camper-specific facilities at the house. We offer accommodation inside the house, including a bed and full use of the kitchen for cooking. The campervan is therefore intended mainly for parking and travel during free time, rather than as the main living space while staying with us.

  We can consider accepting calm, well-balanced dogs. Toffi (14 years old) is friendly and gets along well with other dogs. Jade (15 years old) has never been very playful (she comes from a difficult past), but she is peaceful and has no problem sharing space with another dog. For this reason, young, very energetic, or overly playful dogs are not suitable, as Jade cannot move and could easily become stressed. Any visiting dog should be gentle, respectful, and used to being calm around senior dogs.
