  We’re Astrid and Felix, a retired couple living with our dog, Rosie, on a 40-acre (16-hectare) farm just 50 kilometres south of Whitehorse. Originally from Switzerland, our dream of living in the Yukon came true 33 years ago. We feel incredibly lucky to live in such a stunning location, right next to the beautiful Lewes Lake in the southern lakes region of the Yukon. We really enjoy being outside and growing our own food in our gardens and greenhouse, always aiming to become more self-sufficient.
  
  We’re so happy to meet people from all walks of life and want everyone to feel like they’re part of our family while they’re here. We love cooking and sharing meals with our guests. Our meals are seasonal, using what’s fresh from our gardens or freezer. But we usually take turns cooking and making each other’s favourite dishes, something our workawayers absolutely enjoy. You’ll find wild game like moose, homegrown veggies, cheese, dairy and homemade bread are a big part of our diet. We hunt and preserve our own meat each fall, and our gardens give us top-notch organic vegetables and greens.
  
  Whether you’re into hiking, biking, fishing, kayaking or canoeing, we’ve got the perfect gear for any adventure right here in our own backyard. We truly appreciate our rural lifestyle, surrounded by beautiful wilderness. Plus, we always enjoy spotting wildlife like moose, bears, coyotes, wolves, eagles, and ravens.
  
  Our main aim is to make our WorkAway participants feel right at home, have an amazing time and find a good balance between work and fun. We truly believe that their time with us should be a positive and enjoyable win-win for everyone!

  We treasure our rural Yukon life style, living sustainably in the pristine North. We live very close to nature and coexist with all kinds of wild critters like bears, moose, caribou, wolves, eagles etc. We often encounter them out and about and we really enjoy living at the edge of the wilderness. Each season offers unique experiences, be it the weather, the animals you encounter, or the outdoor activities. If you're keen to learn about this lifestyle, this is the right place for you.

  Arbeit

  Hosting WorkaWayers for the third season has been a rewarding experience and we're excited to continue hosting next year. Usually we have around four WorkAwyer staying at any given time during the summer, folks usually stay for three to four weeks, although some have stayed a bit shorter or longer.
  
  We typically plan our summers in March/April and then start looking for Workawayers that fit our projects and upcoming work for the season.
  
  From May on we're looking for help around our property and our garden and greenhouse. It's the time of the year when nature wakes up from winter and days are getting longer and warmer. Work starts with readying the garden and greenhouse for planting and seeding. Later it's tending to the growing vegetables, and harvesting salad and the fresh vegetables. Starting early fall we harvest and preserve our vegetables and get the garden ready for winter.
  
  We are also looking for help around our property. Later in the summer we'll be haying our fields and getting our firewood for the winter ready. We're also planning to work on our small cabin on the shore of beautiful Bennett Lake over the summer. This is a very remote location which can only be reached with our motorboat in the summer.
  
  We 're looking for helpers who enjoy working outside, enjoy gardening and working with wood and being out on the land. We're happy to teach people new skills but we're also looking for folks who are handy, don’t mind physical work, and like to learn new skills.
  
  We welcome up to four or more Workawayers at our place at any given time during the season. We find it works best to have several WorkAwayers stay at our place, it creates an enjoyable dynamic and makes for easy work and play with all the different skills and backgrounds people bring to the mix.

  Unterkunft

  We offer a private bedroom in our house with a queen sized bed and an en-suite bathroom for a single or couple. We can also room up to three people in our cozy cabin and have space for a single person or couple in our truck camper; people in the cabin and camper have access to a bathroom in the main house. We have laundry facilities with access to everyone. Kitchen and food are available anytime. Additionally we have ample parking space for people with their own camper van.
  
  We live 50 km away from Whitehorse, the next and only bigger city in the Yukon. There's no public transportation between our location and Whitehorse or any other destination in the Yukon. If you like to be independent you need your own transportation so you can take full advantage of the many outdoor activities in our beautiful area.
  
  Whitehorse has several daily direct flights to and from Vancouver, Edmonton and Calgary. We offer pickup and drop-off in Whitehorse and we typically do a quick weekly town run to get supplies.

  We live in paradise if you're into the outdoors or just want to enjoy a quiet place! Wildlife viewing, pristine nature in the raw, camping, hiking, mountains, lakes and rivers, canoeing, fishing, or biking. Any kind of outdoor adventure! A dream come true for any outdoor enthusiast!

  We’re happy to host digital nomads. There is a small desk in the private bedroom to work on. We have WiFi in the home and high-speed internet connection. However there is no cell coverage right at the house only on the hill behind our property.

  In addition to our guest bedroom in the main house, we have a bedroom in our cabin, and a heated camper available on the property. We also welcome travellers in camper vans. We have lots of level parking space available and can offer access to power, water hook up, and a bathroom with shower in the house.
