Incredible experience with sled dogs, Anna and Max are awesome mushers. We discovered and learned a lot from them.
We trained and educated the dogs and discovered a whole world through them. we were able to go sled dog, skijoring and canicross.
Anna and Max taught us a lot about mushing and dogs and their passion infected us.

we were able to do lots of activities on our days off like visiting a nearby provincial park and even going into a haunted house with real people.
Anna cooks really well and we tasted our French specialties. The jacuzzi was there every evening to recover from the days of work which are very respectable. of course love of dogs and unlimited cuddles.

Anna is absolutely lovely,
She is funny, intelligent, incredibly kind and goal oriented. I felt immediately welcomed into her home and made to feel comfortable, she has excellent command of her dogs and is one of the top performers in her sport. Her husband George kindly gave me a tour of the honey house of which he is the owner and head
… read more beekeeper(I also got fresh honey!), he will gladly regail you with stories of his time traveling for the honey house globally. The dogs are very friendly and excitable(you will get lots of kisses). Max(Anna's kennel partner) is very friendly and eager to show how to take care of the dogs. While I was there I got to witness the beautiful changing leaves, explore the scenic woods behind the property, see the northern lights and some gorgeous sunsets. I stayed from Sept 6 to Sept 26, during which time I woke up at 8 every morning(morning schedule is not strict on standard non running days) we were usually done feeding watering and scooping poop by between 9:30 and 11:00 depending on varying start times and work distribution. Keep in mind I left just before busy season. The work load was very tolerable and I enjoyed helping paint the new trailer, Anna is also very relaxed, in the time I was there I used the kitchen frequently for anything from making sandwiches to baking cookies(though tasty dinners were always provided). If you like dogs I would definitely recommend staying here, I could never find a bad thing to say about Anna, it's people like her that make the world interesting.

I stayed here for the duration of the 2021-2022 winter season and had the time of my life. My top two goals when coming here were: see a moose and see the northern lights. Well, let me tell you... I saw more moose than I can count, and watching the aurora while sipping wine in the hot tub in the backyard was better than I could have dreamed! I
… read more knew absolutely nothing on arrival and by the time I left, thanks to Anna and Max's mentorship, I had finished two races and couldn't be prouder of the dogs that carried me. We had a record snowfall year - learning to deal with the extreme cold and digging snowmobiles out of ditches was quite the adventure. If you love dogs more than people, this is the place for you!! On a record night I had 6 dogs in my bedroom. I fell in love many times and ended up having to leave with more dogs than I came with.
As for practical workaway details:
Anna will feed you well... despite working outside every day I still managed to gain weight! If you are afraid that Saskatchewan will be boring and rednecky, don't be... living almost off-grid in the middle of winter wonderland is absolutely dreamy (if you're not the type to need the comforts of the city) and Anna is very open-minded. The working hours are VERY reasonable and although some heavy lifting is involved, your body gets used to it. Also does hanging out with dogs even count as work?? If you prefer to be alone and do your own thing outside of working, this might not be the place for you... the house vibe of everyone coming together and sharing life is one of the fun parts about being here! Movies, board games, hot tub, cooking, etc. Of course, if you are here long enough you will also get plenty of time to yourself, especially if Anna and Max are away at a race. I knitted my first pair of socks haha! If you are hesitant because you've read what PETA says about mushing - come here and find out for yourself just how well these dogs are treated, how much they are loved, and how much they love the sport.
If you are going to come here, please treat Anna well! I consider her my second mom now; I love her dearly and she deserves only the best workawayers!! Give all the dogs little kisses on the nose from me!Du kannst nur Workawayer mit aktiver Mitgliedschaft kontaktieren.

Once you've been here, you want to come back again! We were warmly welcomed and it felt like home. We laughed a lot together and were able to learn so much about mushing & beekeeping.
Furthermore, Anna was very flexible, considerate and generous. We were even allowed to borrow her car, explore the forest with the quad or participate in family

You will get the opportunity to spend a lot of time with the sled dogs, harnessing them, feeding them raw meat, giving them water and cleaning up dog poop is also part of the experience. Along the way, you will have plenty of free time to go on beautiful walks with the dogs & puppies or explore the beauty of Saskatchewan.
Anna, Max, George and all the dogs have grown enormously close to our hearts and we miss them already...
Thank you again for the wonderful and unforgettable time! Hopefully see you soon!Du kannst nur Workawayer mit aktiver Mitgliedschaft kontaktieren.

During my semester abroad in Regina, Anna became my host-mother. She took me in in August, fed me on Thanksgiving, took me into her home during semester break and provided me with a wonderful swedish Christmas. This was all in 2018, and I've been back with my second family every year since then! I'm not gonna lie, everytime I leave there might be

You will be part of a family, you can do many different things from beekeeping to mushing to gardening to building. Don't be afraid to get dirty, and working with animals is not a walk in the park! But it is a very soul-cleansing and healing experience, if you are not true to yourself, the dogs won't listen to you!
Every morning, all year around, the dogs must be watered and the poop must be scooped! But after that, day activities vary. And Anna will always be outside working with you!
Sorry for the late feedback, I miss you and see you soon (hopefully)!Du kannst nur Workawayer mit aktiver Mitgliedschaft kontaktieren.

Our heart was broken when came the moment to leave. We have lived here a wonderful month!!

To have Chris and Daria staying with us was a great experience. They seemed to fit right into our household and family, Both of them was very helpful with everything and not scared of any kind of job. I would recommend them for any kind of position. They helped out with building, painting, gardening, beekeeping, dog care, cooking and they did an

It's hard to describe how welcome we felt at George and Anna's place. They really got out of their way for us to have an amazing stay, putting to work their children in the process to take us beaver hunting, canoeing down the red deer river, quadding in the bush, going to the pool or even attending a very unexpected (but much appreciated!) techno

Anna was very flexible with our time management, and we were also able to chose our tasks and projects by order of liking, so spending time with the dogs became our top priority every day :).
Our bigger projects were very diverse, ranging from shed maintenance and painting to barn clearing, brush clearing in the yard, seeding and planting... We are very grateful for having been able and encouraged to get some DIY projects done to pimp our van. Anna provided Daria with private sewing lessons, and Chris was able to get his hands on scrap wood and all the tools he needed to complete the storage area.
George was very patient in sharing his bee knowledge, and we are very grateful to have learnt so much of his fascinating trade. As for dog sledding, Anna showed us how to take care of the dogs in Summer and tought us the theory of dogsledding in Winter which got us so excited that we're gonna have to come back to get our hands on the winter practice!
Besides that, Anna prepared amazing food for us (moose and elk!), showed us the area and spent lots of quality time with us, all in all the perfect host.
We can't thank you guys enough for such a wonderful stay and for your huge generosity, and we hope our winter plans will come together nicely :)
