This is a farm aiming to accomplish resilient agriculture and demonstrate the unique
challenges the Galapagos Islands face in order to realize local sustainable food production, can indeed
be overcome. It is also a school with a gender focus. It all looks to expand local clean production in
order to contribute to the islands’ food security, soil conservation and regeneration, reduced emissions
while creating opportunities for self-empowerment and strengthening community based solutions.
was founded and is led by Karina Bautista, an environmental scientist specialized in sustainable food systems.
Karina works with her husband, Daniel Sotomayor Gallardo, second generation Galapaguenian. We
believe working on food sovereignty and sustainable agriculture is a fundamental contribution to the
realization of long-term sustainability and conservation of Galapagos’ ecosystems.

Previous Volunteers have come for learning agroecology practices. This is a great place to learn hands on. We are applying biointensive sustainable farming methods and love for our volunteers to treat this place also as a hands on agroecology school. Moreover volunteers will share with a four generation Galapaguenian family (among the founding families in Galapagos), and be part of our project to demonstrate sustainable living alternatives are possible in Galapagos. Our project includes bioconstruction with bamboo.
We need help with overall farming tasks. We are at a research/experimentation phase and so need help particularly with establishing new areas as crops and/or edible forest. Hard work is a common part of our daily work and we start really really early. If you are not a morning person or have back/physical injuries/ills this is most probably not the place for you.
We always welcome bioconstruction enthusiasts, and if you are particularly creative in the kitchen, we are looking for help to innovate with the farm's produce. We love those who are keen (and have the skill) to help us maintain/fix old structures.
We only take volunteers that can stay for a minimum of 4 weeks and give preference to those that can stay longer. We LOVE receiving couples!

Independent house with bathroom and kitchen. House is old and is not luxurious but has all that is needed. Hot water, cooking gas, clean linens, mosquito net, and drinking water provided. House has two rooms and multiple beds so may be shared with more volunteers. Stay includes some/limited vegetables from the farm (we don't have much as we are just beginning) for volunteers to cook with. We don't provide meals. Please be aware that this is a tropical location so insects and geckos are common intruders in the house.
Galapagos is great to explore on your Free time. We are flexible so volunteers can Travel to other islands, dive or explore the island's more remote places. Tortoise watching, surfing, Diving, biking and fishing trips are among the many possibilities.
We're 8km away from main town Puerto Ayora connected via a great bike route. We're in walking distance to public transportation that costs as little as 0,50$ or 4$ for a Taxi.
