Available immediately for about 2 months

We simply have to be particular of who we choose for this housesit because we know what it takes to live here sometimes and having been let down several times in the past quite badly, we need to feel you'll be able to manage, simply for your benefit, not ours.
So video calls and such are required so everyone feels comfortable with what the situation is ;)
    We hope you understand.

We are in the process of selling the house are currently living in Italy and as selling can take a long time, we would not want to leave the house empty for long periods so are looking for a couple or family to housesit from NOW, until around mid-November

If you want to learn a way of life that is being lost in this fast paced, money driven world then this place could be right up your street!
The neighbours still tend their sheep, make their own cheese and milk and guide their horse and cart through the village.
We are away from the modern world and it can offer you a perfect space to relax, let your perspectives shift and re-focus on your own journey.

You will need your own vehicle as we are a little remote however there is a limited bus service to nearby towns for your shopping needs but lugging a weeks worth of shopping on the bus is a little cumbersome.

It may suit you if you want to experience Bulgarian life or just set roots a little while after a period on the road.

We shall require previous experience with housesitting and related references simply because we are entrusting our home to you and have been burnt by unscrupulous housesitters in the past.

You'll need to be someone who enjoys the simpler, sometimes hardcore life, enjoys walking in the forest, respects their surroundings, who can adapt to a different culture that is lost in the past and who can use their initiative to repair something if needed.
YOU MUST be up to repairing things when they go wrong. Living here brings you down to earth and makes you use your hands and brain every day :)

It'd suit nature lovers, those looking to purchase in Bulgaria too and those just wanting to get a taste of Bulgarian life before committing to the big move.
We have no pets, and the garden will not need any care but please fill the place with lots of love and care. Simple :)

A keen eye on security is important too and a general presence does deter potential opportunists having a look to see what they fancy.

Please do not apply if you do not have transportation or are happy to take a taxi/bus for your weekly shopping as I repeat, we are remote. Oh and to communicate openly and honestly while you stay too.

Our home has such a wonderful peaceful feeling which we fell in love with immediately. The sunlight penetrates the whole South side and bathes the garden all day long.
Directly from the front gate are trails to the lake and the forests with endless hours of exploration to be had.

Location of the house sits at the top of a wooded valley, on the outer perimeter of Drashan village, with about 120 mostly elderly, friendly residents.
It is only a 1 1/2 hour drive from Sofia, the capital if you need a few days in the big city at any point.
A nearby village is on the train line from Sofia and takes about 1 1/2 hours at the cost of only a few euros.

The nearest large town is a 40 minute drive away (bus takes about an hour) and has banks, supermarkets, cafes, restaurants etc.

The village itself is in a time warp. People still drive horse and cart, work the land, make their own cheese and fresh milk which is occasionally offered to us....people here are relatively poor but always offer a smile. The neighbours have welcomed us into their lives with un-bounding kindness and joy. To see young people return to their village fills them with hope for the future.

You have the choice of three guest bedrooms both with wood fired burners.
There is a kitchen, bathroom, Bulgarian conservatory and a comfortable lounge.
We have a good sized garden with some hammocks and a stellar sunset view!

A common question always regards internet and the ability to work online here.
There is the ability to receive up to 11mbs speed and 60gb data.
You will have to source this locally if you do not have an international sim and the cost is around 15 euros a month although this place is perfect for a complete digital detox!

If you love the outdoors, then you'd be at peace here with forests to get lost in, forage, or just meditate in, hills, valleys, canyons, unexplored caves to lose yourself in, unlimited top class climbing opportunities (bring your own gear), a lake to lounge beside or fish in and of course there is ultimate freedom and wild hiking abound and a traditional Bulgarian way of life to learn.

    We have some of Bulgaria's top natural attractions not too far away;
The Eye's of God cave (Prohodna Cave)
    Ledinika Cave
Iskur Gorge (especially wise to take the train to us, from Sofia as it passes through this magnificent place)
    Belogradchik Fortress
Magical and spiritual Belogradchik rocks, reminded me of the red rocks of Utah!
    Vratsa waterfall

    A note for rock climbers.
A 2016 article on none other than climbing.com, the writer claims the Vratsa region of Bulgaria as having the 'coolest crag I've ever seen' amongst every possible types of climbing. The area is a little known, but growing in popularity climbing region. We are located just a 30 minutes from that Prohodna or 'Eyes of God' cave and 45 minutes drive from Vratsa's crags.
