It was a pleasure hosting Mike and we really enjoyed having him as part of the household. Mike was extremely helpful in the garden and always on time every morning. His work was precise and he worked hard. Mike carried out all duties to a high standard and was always amenable.

I had a wonderful time staying with Mary Jane & Philip on the Blackwater river. They are experienced hosts & I had a superb room with my own toilet & shower/bath in their house. I carried out some gardening & planted up a couple of beds & also helped Owain (a treesurgeon) in moving & chipping diseased & dieing Ash trees that had been felled. It
… read more was physically hard work, but Owain was great company with some amazing & varied life stories. I thoughly enjoyed my work, time & stay.
Mary Jane & Philip always ensured I had everything I needed & we shared some superb meals including Venison & the best Salmon I have ever tasted. I was invited to share in kayaking down a section of the Blackwater, including a picnic lunch which was one of the definate highlights of my time in Ireland so far. Although a rural location, it is truly beautiful & peaceful, being right on the Blackwater. There are a couple of very good gardens nearby & centrally located to fairly easily access both Cork/Cobh & the Rock of Cashel, Cahir or the Mitchelstown Caves.

Their Georgian house is simply wonderful, very confortable and we had all that we hoped for out first Workaway experience ever: nice talking, hospitality, awesome food (thank you again Mary Jane) and wonderful culture exchange. In addition, their two beautiful and so nice dogs made the
… read more little plus that make you never want to go back again. Mary Jane's place with this wonderful wood and the Blackwater River is like compared to no one other place in Ireland. The work in itself was physical for us, tiring sometimes, but if we have to choose again to make a workaway for Mary Jane and Philip, we won't hesitate a second !

We loved having Carlotta to stay she was a great asset and a hard worker. Carlotta was always willing and happy to try her hand at anything I gave her.
Carlotta fitted in really well to our household and was an easy person to be around.

I had a great stay in the house, Mary Jane and her family were really welcoming and integrated me into their family life. They live in a beautiful surrounding, the accommodation is modern and really comfortable and the food, which is cooked together, delicous and healthy. I also enjoyed the work outside in the garden, the tasks varied and the work
… read more was never too hard. Their two dogs are so nice and it is great fun to take them for a walk and enjoy the amazing view on the Nagle Hills and the Blackwater River. So if you like working outside and enjoy being in the countryside, this is the perfect place to go :)
