  Hello!
  We are Jaun (39) and Lisa (34), a french couple living on Alentejo's coast since 2018 (2h south of Lisbon). After travelling in different countries all over the world, we decided to settled down and found a beautiful land to live, 10min from a village and 30min from the sea (by car).
  
  Since 5 years, we put a lot of efforts and love to create a nice place to live close to the nature. At the moment, we live off grid, in a Yurt with an outside kitchen and a clay building bathroom. We also put efforts to integrate to the local life and community, Jaun is in charge of a biodyanmic vinyard and works with a local Theatre company (sound technician) and Lise is a Yoga Teacher and also works as a facilitator for other natural building projects.
  
  In 2021, we started to renovate an old ruin of Taipa (traditional earth/clay house) with the objective to build with mostly natural materials. We combined the Taipa with a wooden structure and light straw clay tecnic.
  So far, about 70 friends helped us to work on the house, it has been amazing but still have a lot to do !
  
  AT THE MOMENT, WE ARE LOOKING FOR SOME HELP TO CONTINUE WORKING ON THE HOUSE. ESPECIALLY TO BUILD INSIDE WALL AND TO BUILD THE FLOOR.
  
  On the land, you have your own space to sleep in a caravan with a double bed and a small terrace. We share the common space (kitchen area and bathroom).
  
  As written above, we both work and we are not always available so we are looking for people who already have experience to live with others, who are independant, easy going and who can take responsibility with their tasks.
  From our experience, since we are a couple and not a comunity, we know that it is better if we host a couple or 2 friends at the same time, but if you have a true interest for natural building, you can always contact us even if you are alone :)
  Also, since we live 10minutes from the village, you need to have your own car.
  
  Apart from the work on the house, we also have some work to keep the land nice and clean and to take care of the plact and little veggy garden. We also share the daily routine tasks like: cooking, cleaning, etc...
  
  In general, we also like to have fun, free time, to chill, to party, to be in the nature, to go to the beach to surf or swim, to eat nice food and drink a beer with friends !

  From what our friends, family, travellers and volunteers said, they always feel good spending time on our land.
  
  For many people, it is quite a big change to spend time with us because we live most of the time outside. So it is a good way to live simply, more connected to the Nature with basic but nice confort (meaning: no fridge, no washing machine, limited electricity in general...).
  
  About the work on the land, we are always happy to share what we have learned so far and we like to learn new things from you.
  
  We also really like to spend time with friends, we both speak Portuguese and we are quite well integrated to the local life. So it is also a way to better know the area, local coffee, local food, events, projects, etc..
  
  But, It is good to acknowledge that we are just a couple (not a community) and we also work and live here so we also want to have some time on our own :)

  Arbeit

  ECO BUILDING: End of June, we are organizing a workshop with an Association to buil our earth floor. So at the moment we are focusing on getting ready for the workshop meaning: doing canalisation, isolation adn drainage of the floor, building up inside walls with straw, lime, earth.... and other interesting tasks.
  
  LAND: maintenance of the land, trees, taking care of the veggy garden, plants etc...
  
  DAILY LIFE: we all contribute to cook, clean and keep the space nice and confortable...
  
  THIS IS A GREAT OPORTUNITY FOR THOSE WILLING TO LEARN ABOUT ECO BUILDING, FOR SURE YOU WILL GET NEW KNOWLEDGE AND NEW SKILLS AFTER STAYING AND HELPING US.
  
  HOURS AND EXCHANGE:
  The normal exchange is 5h/day 5days/week. We are providing a place to stay (caravan) and 3 basic meals a day (veggy meals). If you have another request, we are open to discuss about another exchange.
  
  NB: The helpers buy their own personal and special treats (like juice, snacks, alcool, etc....).

  Unterkunft

  We have a small caravan with a double bed and a sofa (that can be a bed too).
  We share our kitchen and our bathroom whith the you.
  We have a compost toilet and hot shower.
  
  We are a small and low budget project so we can only provide simple facilities. But this is how we live everyday and we think it is comfortable for people who like to live in nature.

  Was noch ...

  In this area, you will get to the chance to discover a peaceful part of Portugal and meeting many people from all over the world coming here to find a better place to live close to the Nature! Lots of interesting things are going on in the region and they are many projects to discover.
  We are located in the Natural park of the Alentejo coast, it is possible to go hiking, fishing, canoeing, and to surf and swim in beautiful beaches.
  But as we said before, it is essential to have your own car.
