    Beschreibung

A 6 hectare plot of land out in nature, surrounded by pine and spruce forests, where the only noise is the wind in the trees, the occasional car passing on the main road, and the mooing of cows on the distant neighbours' farms.
It's a very biodiverse hilltop site, with a range of vegetation and ground, though mostly wet meadow and bog, along with some forested areas. This land is considerably wet, of poor quality and generally neglected. I want to bring it to life.
My dream: to transform this neglected land into a biodiversity and nature oasis! In this, I want to include elements of forest gardening, permaculture and working with nature. I ultimately aim to use only 100% natural materials in the garden, avoiding plastics, paints, rubbers and other synthetic materials and chemical products.

Hi, my name is Matthew. I'm a 35-year old Irishman recently returned from working abroad. I got this land at the beginning of 2021, and so far the facilities are limited and rudimentary. I hope to improve this and make it more comfortable in the near future.
Onsite, I already have: rainwater collection for washing (including shower), filtered water for drinking, electricity from solar panel, mobile network coverage for phone and internet, polytunnels (which I one day want to replace with greenhouses) for growing vegetables, a cabin, a shed for storage, workshop, compost toilets, gas cooker (hob, but no oven yet).

The nearest shops is in the nearest town, at 7km. For that reason, it is important to either be able to ride a bicycle (I can lend you one of mine), or have your own car. Unless you really like walking...
This nearby town has some really beautiful historical and natural sites worth visiting. It is connected on the main train and bus route to Dublin

By bike, we can see some places nearby, such as 5000 year old dolmens on mountains (hiking), limestone caves to explore, an old abbey to visit, and an extensive forest park with long paths through the forest and along the lake shore. There is a Parkrun there each Saturday.
It's also possible to take a train to the city and the seaside.

If you wish, I can help you with your English. I am a professional English teacher with 8 years experience. I can also teach you the names of the wild plants and which ones are edible (I have a degree in Botany and an interest in herbs).

You can help with some of the following tasks (just ideas): Tending the garden - planting, digging, weeding, harvesting, breaking new ground, building lasagne beds, chipping branches for woodchips, pruning, etc.; planting trees (in winter); digging drains and ponds - the land is very wet and I want to improve some of it; cutting the grass (scythe or strimmer); building with clay (cob) and wood, building stone walls...

If you speak any of the other languages I speak (besides English), I'd be happy to practice with you.
If you have experience with natural building techniques (cob/clay, thatch), maybe there are some things I could learn from you.

    Unterkunft

Currently, the accommodation option is limited. I can provide you with a tent, including bedding. For the moment that's what I have available, and that's why the winter months are not really suitable. Next year I hope to have made proper accommodation. I am working on making something more substantial.
Toilets are compost toilets (woodchip based). Shower using collected rainwater .
Food will be 100% vegan, gluten free, 3 meals a day. Some of it will be the harvest from the garden, including wild plants. Please let me know if you have any allergies or other dietary requirements.
You can use the electricity and internet I have here.

It's important that my guest be able to:

    1. Speak a reasonable level of any of the following languages: English, French, Spanish or Russian, so that we can communicate.

    2. Know how to ride a bicycle (or have your own car).

    3. Be comfortable with eating vegan food for the duration of your stay. This is important .

    4. Be adaptable and prepared for living with a low level of comfort, as this place currently cannot offer all the modern comforts (see above).
