Sandrine ( 56) industrial/airport language/ business trainer ( English/Spanish/French) and Myfanwy 20, Neo (8), family cat Neo ( cat sitting Cwtch( 10), my daugter 's cat until dec , but not very sociable ) as well as 3 hens in the garden . Titane the dog( 6 ) next door at my cousins .
My son Ayden ( 25) lives 10 km from here in a flat with girlfriend Camille and Myfanwy is now in Glasgow until December for studies ,
Shayne, 34, from New Zealand , former workawayer, caught by covid lockdown since 2019 , works with me . He lives in Mulhouse with girlfriend Fred . They're about to have a baby !
We live in a 4000 inhabitant town, 8 mn from Mulhouse, 30mn from Colmar, with shops, sport centre and a station, 20mn from the Vosges Mountains, Germany and Switzerland. 10 mn from the vineyard , we love walks there ... ( usually with a cake and tea )
We like music , cinema, live concerts and shows, sport,board games ,walks,cooking, embroidery, swimming,reading, history, cycling everywhere ( on flat ground , not really ready for Tour de France !) , DIY and crafts ,spending time in hammocks in the garden, (making tables and chairs with pallets ), gardening with our neighbours and cooking fresh food,( off to the local market every saturday ), sustainable life and less polluting ( solar panels, using water from the roof for the garden and keeping biodiversity in the garden for the bees )
Vegetarians welcome , i don t eat meat on regular basis . Cheese is very present though . Eggs from the garden members
( Paulette,Omelette and Haggis)
Piano in the house, extra bikes in the garage ( don't think of driving to the local shops !) .
I m very keen on minimal use of electricity and , not very cold so temperature in the house is around 19 °C .
shopping and TV come at the bottom of the list .

By living with the family and joining activities , meeting local people and getting to know everyone in the town . By having contact with the local population and participating in cultural projects .
By not being a tourist , but an actual french resident for a few months .
You can learn to cook , taste wines, go for walks on the mountain and in the forest , practice sports , watch films in french or english ....

Living with us and being a second adult in the house
Ensuring presence in the house , helping cooking and cleaning ( we clean together , not just you ) Joining activities during the week, helping with some if my weird diy projects, practicing sport , playing music, getting involved in local life .
I expect reactivity, INITIATIVE,MATURITY, creativity, enthusiasm and flexibility . Honest and straight forward ( i’ m too old for jealousy, hatred and hypocrisy ). Courage could be a plus .
Floppy, couch potato or not wanting to move , pls choose another profile !
Selfishness doesn t last long under my roof and team spirit gets rewarded !
Everyone understands English but we speak French or Spanish in the house .
Lots of perks and free time if efficient .
We'll provide help for learning french, english or spanish, activities,concerts and events, walks, visits and sports in return for help.

Would appreciate minimum stay 2, up to 6 months if you want to participate to English training .
Our aim being to integrate you into local life and activities and you can visit France ,Switzerland and Germany since we're at a European corner . Also useful if you want to progress at languages and there are lots of things to do .
As we also volunteer in Nepali charity supporting schools in Nepal , your help would be appreciated during festivals or to help sorting craft, giving ideas for marketing, being present at markets ( one hour a month on average, but more activity around christmas markets in December) . And , why not , help with IT ( website and trying to get crafts sales ordered by QR code , but some comittee members need a good revolution maybe...).
We're not looking for an employee , nor a hotel guest ! there is a medium in living family life and being committed with having freedom ( individualism and lack of empathy don't help much) .....but I'm needing help, and can't be bothered anymore if you consider me as a hotel employee .
Reasonable use of internet/mobile phones appreciated. I'm connected to local life and people, not to my phone.
If your idea of staying in a foreign country is to be hooked to your mobile or playing video games , pls consider other options .
Ideally over 23 for car insurance reasons . if under 25 , maturity requested ( sorry , i have my own late teenagers to deal with !)
We've had people staying with us since 2003 through various schemes or websites .
5 day trial period compulsory but once we love you , you'll be family member for life !
