    Hey! I'm Riku.
I like exploring and traveling (backpacking).
I used to live as digital nomad until last year.

Last year, I moved to Aishocho (AKA the "town of love") in Shiga, which is about a 40 minute train from Kyoto).
The town has kept it's history and culture. Please check the video to learn more about this place.

I want to make more connections between people from other countries with local Japanese people, so that we can learn from each other and broaden our horizons.

Thank you so much for reading my explanation.
If you are interested, please send me a message and we can talk more details.

※Please read all description before you apply, we are looking for someone who can stay about 2 month.
※Fortunately,I get about 50 messages per month. It takes time to reply you back sometimes!

    よろしくおねがいします!

I think this town is really well balanced. It’s not too convenient, but not too inconvenient. You can feel the warmth in the community even if people's connections aren't too closely related.

Theres a sake brewery about a 5 minute walk away from the house.
This place was built 200 years ago, and still serves sake for the Japanese emperor.
There is a beautiful library (it was chosen as one of the best libraries in Japan in 2013).
There is a place to experience sewing Japanese traditional clothes made from hemp.

I have lots of connections with people here so depending on your interests, I can introduce to various people. Also, I can teach you Japanese language and manners if you would like.

This would be good place for people to learn Japanese culture and manners, and language before
they move to big city and there, or find difficulties to get in Japanese community or improve Japanese skill after moving Japan.

    Arbeit

I recently rented a big old house with a garden, with the intention of making it as an international community base.
The goal for this place is to make Aisho town itself as host.

Thus there would be two main activities for Workawayers.

    1.Helping local peoples activity

It can be gardening, english teaching, whatever local people need help for.

2.Communicate with local people at community house.

We do hold event or open the space for local people.
We need someone who can organize an event to share your culture and communicate with local people.

The ratio would be about 7:3.

We provide Japanese lessons twice a week by Japanese language teacher(textbooks are prepared).
Thus you can input Japanese properly and output through communicating with local people.

Even though we try to this is kinda new try so we want someone who can try together, be proactive.

I have a car so I can show you around when I have free time.

You can use a bicycle while staying here.
There is a famous activity called Biwaichi, which is cycling around Biwa lake for two days.

Its about 50 minutes to go to Kyoto by train (1000 yen one way), and 1.5 hours to go to Nagoya by train (1500 yen one way).
There is an old merchant city called Omihachiman, Gokasho, which is about 10 minutes by train. There is also the biggest lake in Japan (one of the oldest lakes in the world), which takes 15 minutes by car.
