Aloha, Come enjoy a peaceful homestead in a jungle paradise.
We are two families that live and caretake a 5 acre tropical farm. This is not a commercial farm. Workawayers will not be involved with any aspect of business. We have been living a sustainable lifestyle and homesteading for 2 decades in Kealakekua, Hawaii. The land is filled with organic gardens and permacultured landscapes. We have dogs and cats.
We are looking for people to help us manage our homestead farm and who can work independently. We have established gardens, mature fruit trees and permicultured food forests. We are in need people who can manage their own hours, are self motivated, and accountable for accomplishing the tasks at hand.
We are very busy so we are looking for people who can easily fit into our family's flow.
We expect 16 hours of work a week in trade. Examples of tasks include hand weeding, weedwacking, mulching, seeding, planting, harvesting, pulling cane grass, trimming bananas patches, trimming small trees.
We like to start with a 2 week contract to make sure it is fitting for both parties and if its a good fit we prefer to have you stay for the minimum of 6 weeks.

We live at 1700ft elevation, so it is slightly cooler and refreshing at night. You will have access to plenty of fresh tropical fruits and vegetables. We live 10 minutes drive from the ocean and 25 minutes from downtown Kona. Local Bus stop is at the end of my road.
Our Island offers amazing hiking right from my home, (check out the 7 mile Captain Cook Monument trail). The entrance is a 10 minute walk from my house. ...all kinds of ocean sports, and camping. Also 10 minutes from dolphin resting area, so you can swim with the dolphins in the morning.
Please bring your own masks, fins, snorkel, and beach towels.Arbeit
Cutting down tree branches and pulling overgrown weeds to make clear paths. Experience with weed wackers or willing to learn how to use them is needed.
You will learn how to build soil and feed the plants through Hawaiian natural farming practices.
Harvesting and tending our food gardens need to get done on a weekly basis. Sometimes there are DIY projects in our home that require tools or artistic creativity.
Cleanliness is very important and helping with household chores will be expected.
A valid Drivers License and health insurance is a must.

Amazing 7 mile hiking trail all the way down to the ocean walking minutes from my house. Sunday Farmers market 15 walking minutes. Kealakukua Bay has the closest beach access. There are Black sand beaches, green sand beaches, white sand beaches, waterfalls and tropical jungles all over the island. The most popular activities are swimming, kayaking, surfing, fishing, diving, and exploring.
The bus stop 1/3 mile at the bottom of my road. This bus will take you all around the island.
You can camp and visit a rainforest in Volcano National Park about 1.5hours from where I live.
The volcano is still active but is not flowing. It is an amazing place for hikers and nature enthusiasts.Etwas mehr Information
