We are a small retreat center/ashram, inspired to become a sustainable community. We are completely off the grid, and with our beautiful views and quietness from surrounding mountains, it allows guests, retreat participants, and volunteers silence.
We are 108 km north of Terrace, BC, in the sacred Nass Valley, home to the First Nations people - the Nisga'a Nation. From the months of May - November, we offer retreats, yoga programs and yoga teacher trainings.
We have been opening our doors to Workawayers and Volunteers alike for many years now. Living off-grid the way that we do often requires long days and hard work but it also brings us closer as a community.
We are running from mostly solar power and some generator power, with a gravity-fed water system, and a large garden, which is a work in progress towards a community of sustainability.
Our daily program looks something like this but is always evolving based on projects we are working on and the needs of the community
6 am - 10 am ~ Free time/ Personal Practice
11 am ~ Brunch
12 am - 5pm ~ Karma Yoga / Volunteering
5 pm - 6 pm ~ Meditation/Yoga

7:00pm - Clean up
9pm - Quiet time
Weekends are usually days off.

After a one-month (or so) stay with us, folks usually leave feeling very enriched by their experience, and they are able to even take a practice of meditation and/or yoga home with them.
We have been inviting volunteers to come to contribute to our ashram and stay at our place since 2009. We would like volunteers to stay a minimum of one month. Volunteers can stay for the entire 6 months season-- however, we strongly advise people to come and "test the waters" before deciding on making a long-term commitment for stays of multiple months.
Along with meals and accommodations, we offer occasional yoga & meditation classes, community activities, and share circles. We can provide a simple tent and sleeping bags.
We harvest a lot from the surrounding old-growth forest and our own land. Simple vegetarian and vegan meals will be served, using our own garden vegetables when possible.
Our main projects include finishing parging our strawbale building, building projects, making compost toilets, etc.. All of the work will be outside. PLEASE PACK APPROPRIATELY.
Please come prepared to get your hands dirty we will be working on building projects, landscaping, etc.

TIME OFF
Volunteering (karma yoga/Seva) is 5hr a day, 5 days a week, and volunteers mostly get weekends off.
When visiting the Ashram it is best to take this time to be in nature, to be with ourselves. It's a great opportunity to remove oneself from the outside world and focus on the inner being. We only go into town once every 7-10 days.
Due to Covid-19, volunteers will be unable to join us for the journey, but we are willing to pick you up whatever is needed in Terrace, BC.
We offer Chakra Readings, Private Alignment Classes, and Thai Massage to our guests at a cost, and as a volunteer, you are more than welcome to book these activities during your time off! :)
