Welcome to the Beautiful Dordogne Valley, South-Western France
We will be looking for helpers end February and March 2026
Travel well and look forward to meeting new helpers 😊
One of the most picturesque regions of France, the Dordogne Valley is the perfect place to experience rural life in the French countryside.
Here, I can offer a unique opportunity for cultural immersion — a chance to live the French way of life while enjoying nature, gardening, and creative projects.
I speak both French and English in the house, and I encourage you to practice every day. At the moment, I’m planting lavender gardens and preparing the vegetable patch for spring There are always fun creative projects on the go — building a chicken shed from recycled timber, making bird boxes for the winter, and making metal garden sculpture from old carriage wheels .
Workaway s are not involved in any aspect of business operation and are not involved in any work on the property in regards to repairs or maintenance . We have a full time handy man who looks after the upkeep of the property .

Hello, my name is Gabrielle.
I’m Australian and have been living in France for 10 years. I moved to the countryside for a peaceful life, for my love of gardening, and the joy of renovating old houses.
Hosting has brought me so much joy over the years — I love meeting new people, learning from them, and sharing my home and lifestyle. For me, it’s not just about getting help, but also enjoying the company, cultural exchange, and friendships that come with it.

Beautiful country side and villages .. The region has many medieval Historical castles and Villages .lots of tourist sites to visit castles and gardens and pre historic Cave sites in the Dordogne valley .
Visit famous prehistoric site at Lascaux . market towns. Learn French language. Ive got. a whole course of books to follow learning about gardening .permaculture vegetables Gardening.
Arbeit
In 2026 we start again come and learn lots of activities gardening planting weeding mulching cleaning out vegetables Garden, help building a chicken coup and bird boxes for winter
You will need to enjoy the outdoors.
Helpers must be neat and clean and helpful in all activities including cooking and washing up and keep the house clean and tidy.
Pleasant attitude and sociable .
Out doors "type" of people and those who are a bit fit and have done some physical tasks are more suitable . Most of the tasks are simple enough. and i can teach you many skills..read the reviews we have had a lot of fun helpers here.
..Bring some work shoes Work Gloves and old clothes as we get dirty .. and sometimes paint on them as well.

A Private room with private shower toilet or shared if you come as couple or friends. Comfortable all included We have a small Gite nice wooden Chalet style a nice pool as well as river to canoe.
During the week and days you work we share cooking meals and cleaning up. We enjoy lots of good hearty Simple foods & many vegetarian style foods. Breakfast is simple coffee tea. Toasts you have at your own leisure before work commences. then lunch and dinner provided.....
On weekends you have time for yourselves . we often go to markets if they are on but , ..the time is yours to discover the region. Canoeing Hiking great for photography .

We had a fantastic time working with Gabby. We were only there for a week but could have easily stayed much longer. The accommodation and the food were both excellent, but our highlight was just getting to know Gabby and the other Workawayers. Hopefully we'll keep in touch (Craig wants a photo of his fireplace when it's all finished!)

Kailey and Daniel were a great team with lots and Lots of Energy .... They both helped renovating cleaning plaster of old stone walls and did a great job putting up plaster board in the loft that had 200 year old crooked and bent beams but was no trouble as Daniel had great vision how to do the job ...thanks Daniel it all looks wonderful ....… read more

We have a fabulous time with Gabrielle at this beautiful property in the Dordogne. We wish we would have stayed longer. The work was varied and manageable. We enjoyed the time we spent here with Gabrielle. Varied tasks, fair work hours, and fun ! Gabrielle is a great host, always cooking amazing food, taking care of us.
