Hei!
We are glad you found our fantastic project! Our project is on an island in the heart of Lofoten and Vesterålen. This island is probably one of the most beautiful islands in the world surrounded by the highest peaks in Lofoten and an incredible archipelago. The island is a pretty small island but very diverse. It has a couple of small mountains and 4 sandy beaches and is very close to the famous Trollfjord. There has been an trademanspost at this island from the 1800s till the 1980s. Farming has also been an important part of island life here. We are three friends building this island project; Eivind Drivflaadt, Asbjørn Eggebø Næss and Sebastian Wahl. We are between 31 and 45 years old and each have an exciting story to tell. Our background is as filmmakers, chocolatiers, carpenters, eco farmers, pro skiers, founder of healthy fast food and adventure tourism.
It will be mainly Eivind that will be hosting you. Sebastian will be here now and then and Asbjørn more rarely.
We have now got a hold of this beautiful island and are bringing it alive again!
This island was left and has been falling down since the early 80s. It is an unique coastal cultural heritage that we now are breathing life back into. We are building a destination centered around nature, food and farming, art and philosophy. This destination will be a like a nature school and act as a vehicle to actualize the UN sustainability goals.
We are building this project mainly with materials that we can source on the island and reuse and recycle of old materials. Our goal is to develop this with a positive carbon footprint.
The island will hopefully become a leading star within travel and sustainability in Norway, and a template of sustainable development for others to follow.
If you are a naturelover you will want to stay here. This place is amazing for skiing, hiking, boating, fishing, contemplation, climbing, and anything else you want to do in this hidden world class gem. You are welcome to our personal and ambitious project.
We also have a beautiful 45 feet old wooden boat that always needs a lot of love, so we are specially looking for people who knows woodwork/carpentry and/or mechanical skills.
This summer we will have 5 to 10 volunteer spots available. This will hopefully make it a great fun, social and educational environment to be a part of.
To make our life a little bit easier, please write us about yourself:
- How long would you want to join us? We enjoy having people around for longer, so they become a local and bond with the island (1-3 months), however shorter stays for specific renovation projects are possible as well.
- What draws you to our project and what would you be excited to help us with?
- What is it that really makes you happy? (so we get to know you a bit)
- Have you worked as volunteer before? What are your expectations?
We are looking forward hearing from you and welcome you to this paradise island.
Lofotregards Asbjørn, Eivind and Sebastian
