    Beschreibung

I live on a small farm outside Oslo, where I have pigs, hens, geese, horses, cats and a dog. I do small scale pork meat production, and I am very passionate about animal welfare and producing meat in a sustainable way. The pigs are fed with waste from local food stores and live outside most of the time.

This is a very idyllic place on the countryside in Norway, and there are very nice areas nearby for going hiking, skiing and enjoying nature. If you have experience with horses, it can also be possible to go riding sometimes. I am very passionate about animals and food production and would love to learn about how things are done other places, as well as to tell about how things are here and introduce you to Norwegian culture in general. Our farm is situated so that it is quite easy to get to the city center in Oslo, although it is quite rural here, so you can easily experience the culture and city life in Oslo, and it makes a good basis for going to visit other places in your free time.

This way of farming takes a lot of effort and time, and I could use some help with my day to day tasks, like feeding and giving water to the animals, collecting food from the different places, cleaning, fencing and other things that need to be done around the farm. The food also needs to be sorted before it can be given to the pigs, so that would be a typical task. Most of the help will be with the pigs, but the other animals need care as well. If you are capable of building/constructing, that would also be very useful as there are always things that need to be repaired at a farm.
Ideally, someone working here would get to know the place well enough to be able to take care of the animals for a day or two alone. Part of my daily routine is to drive to pick up food for the pigs, so if you have a drivers license, that makes things quite a bit easier.

During the summer it is possible to live in a small and simple, but very charming, apartment over our garage. It has a small kitchen, but no running water. This apartment is not properly insulated for winter use, so during the winter you can stay in a guest room in the house. You can eat together with me if you like, but if you have any special preferences, like gluten intolerance or vegan food, you will have to provide this yourself. If you like to cook and want to cook dinner sometimes, that is also very nice, and I would love to try some new foreign dishes.

There are busses/boats to Oslo that runs hourly, and it takes about 1 hour to get to the city centre. The bus stop is quite far, so we usually drive to the bus, but it is also possible to walk or bike (30 min walk).
There are a lot of things to do in Oslo, but there are also some cultural things happening in the local area. Close by, there is a lot of forest and nature, and since it is a peninsula, there are many places to go swimming or fishing.

Fyi: I smoke, but only outside.
