  Vaccinated volunteers only, please. If you're coming from abroad Chile has several COVID-19 measures. You will have to validate your vaccines in advance (at least one month before your travel), 5 days quarantine (or shorter if you have a negative PCR), etc. Having your 2 shots of vaccine will let you have your "pase de movilidad" and travel freely around the country, access to the restaurants, planes, buses, etc.

  Hello! My name is Victor and I manage the profile of my parents who live in a quiet country house located in the sector of Pilluco, 15 minutes from the city of Ancud and part of the unique and beautiful Chiloe's Island.
  
  A few years ago I had the opportunity to discover this website and do Workaways, I proposed it to my parents and they liked the idea. I am currently living in France but I manage their profile from here and I am in constant communication with them to confirm the schedule.
  
  We work mainly farming, growing up veggies and fruits and raising animals to produce food in the most sustainable possible way we can. We produce Chiloe’s garlic, Chiloe’s potatoes, lettuces, Swiss chard, tomatoes, currants, raspberries, and a lot more. We raise cows (a few here and more in another field about 25 min.), Chickens and a few pigs. We also love having pets so we have animals inside the house (2 small dogs and 4 cats) and 4 dogs outside. We would like to find someone who LOVES animals too and that has no problem with them going up to your lap haha. In the spring and summer season the cows are milked and we make cheese.
  
  Basic spanish is required because you spend most of the time with my parents that only speaks spanish (and sometimes a little fast), so it's extremely important to keep a fluent, and not awkward communication.

  ¡Hola! Mi nombre es Victor y gestiono el perfil de mis padres que viven en una tranquila casa de campo ubicada en el sector de Pilluco a 15 minutos de la ciudad de Ancud y parte de la hermosa isla de Chiloé.
  
  Hace algunos años atrás tuve la oportunidad de descubrir este sitio y hacer Workaways, se lo propuse a mis padres y les gustó la idea. Actualmente estoy viviendo en Francia pero gestiono su perfil desde aquí y estoy en constante comunicación con ellos para confirmar el calendario.
  
  Nos dedicamos principalmente a cultivar la tierra y criar animales para producir alimentos de la manera más sostenible que podemos. Producimos ajos chilotes, papas nativas, lechuga, acelgas, tomates, grosellas, frambuesas y mucho más. Criamos vacas (unas pocas aquí y otras en otro campo a 25 min. de distancia), Pollos y algunos cerdos. También nos encanta tener mascotas así que tenemos animales dentro de la casa (2 perros pequeños y 1 gato) y 2 perros afuera. Por lo tanto, nos gustaría encontrar a alguien que AME a los animales también y que no tenga ningún problema con que ellos se monten encima jaja. En la temporada de primavera y verano, las vacas son ordeñadas y hacemos queso.

  In first place, you will learn a lot of spanish!
  You’ll be able to learn a lot about farming and gardening. You’ll be able to interact with the animals daily. And many other things related to the farm. You can also eat and learn to cook traditional Chilean and Chiloe’s food, learn about the Chiloe culture (particularly different from the rest of Chile).
  
  Primero, forzosamente o no aprenderás mucho español! Tendrás la posibilidad de aprender todo lo relacionado a cultivar vegetales y cosecharlos. Podrás interactuar con los animales a diario. Y muchas otras cosas relacionadas a la granja. Además podrás comer y aprender a cocinar comida tradicional chilena y chilota, aprender sobre la cultura chilota (particularmente distinta del resto de Chile).

  You will spend a lot of time with my parents doing all the farming chores. Ideally you have to know at least some basic Spanish, THIS IS REALLY IMPORTANT otherwise you'll not be able to communicate with each other. The chores in general will be simple, easy to learn, but they can be physically tiring so it's important to being in a good physical condition. In the vegetable garden and greenhouse it is necessary to remove the grass, watering, making seedbeds, transplanting the plants, cutting and harvesting vegetables. Collect and apply fertilizer. Chop firewood. Feed the animals and give them a little love. The tasks inside the house are also shared with the volunteers: Washing the dishes, cooking, hanging clothes are the most common domestic tasks. Ideally we will look for something that fits what you can do, something that does not bore you and that you enjoy doing. If you know about carpentry, masonry, mechanics would be pleasantly received. We have a house restoration project in Guabún, where we own more land, so it's very possible that we go work there.
  I personally like languages (learning English and French right now), if we can practice it would be amazing!
  We are open to hear any idea that you have that could help improve our farm and home.

  Son mis papás los que se encargan de las tareas del campo. Por lo tanto pasarás la mayor parte del tiempo con ellos. Idealmente necesitarías saber al menos un poco de español básico para poder comunicarse. Las tareas en general serán sencillas, fáciles de aprender pero pueden ser físicamente agotadoras por eso es fundamental venir con una buena condición física. En la huerta e invernadero es necesario quitar el pasto, remover la tierra, regar, hacer almácigos, transplantar las plantas, cortar y recolectar verduras. Recolectar y regar abono. Cortar leña. Alimentar a los animales y mimarlos. Las tareas dentro de la casa son también compartidas con los voluntarios: Lavar la loza, cocinar, colgar la ropa son las tareas domésticas más habituales. Idealmente buscaremos algo que se acomode a lo que puedas hacer, algo que no te aburra y que disfrutes haciendo. Si sabes de carpintería, albañilería, mecánica sería gratamente recibido. Tenemos un enorme proyecto de restauración de una casa en Guabún (donde tenemos otro campo), es bastante posible que vayamos a trabajar allí. (El entorno es maravilloso).

  Double bed private room. The bathroom is shared with all the people that is at home at the moment. At least 3 meals a day: breakfast, lunch and dinner. My mom is the chef at home, and she does it very well! She makes white and wholegrain bread too. She will teach you how to make the bread and other meals, and she loves to learn new recipes and techniques, if you cook. Help in the kitchen is welcome and expected. We eat meat but if you don’t, you have all the freedom to prepare yourself a vegetarian meal.

  Habitación privada con cama doble. El baño es compartido con todos los que estemos en casa. Al menos 3 comidas diarias: desayuno, almuerzo y once-cena. Mi mamá se encarga principalmente de cocinar, y lo hace muy bien! Hace pan blanco e integral. Ella te enseñará como hacer pan amasado y otras comidas, pero también le gusta aprender nuevas recetas y técnicas, así que si cocinas te lo agradecerá. La ayuda en la cocina es bienvenida y esperada. Nosotros comemos carne pero si tú no tienes toda la libertad para prepararte una comida vegetariana.

  My parents travel once a day to the city (my mother works with my brother in the family business), so if you need to go to the city they could give you a ride. If you have to go by yourself you’ll have to wait for a taxi that will charge you about 5 dollars. The beach is very close, about 7 minutes walking. There is another hidden beach that you can reach by crossing the native forest within the property. Nearby tourist attractions by car and bicycle: Puñihuil (Penguins and whales sightseeing), Ahui fort, Mar Brava beach, Guabún beach, wooden churches.

  Mis padres viajan una vez al día a la ciudad (mi madre trabaja con mi hermano en el negocio familiar), entonces si necesitas ir a la ciudad ellos podrían llevarte. Si debes ir por tu cuenta tendrás que esperar un taxi que te cobrará unos 5 dólares aproximadamente. La playa está muy cerca, a unos 7 minutos caminando. Hay otra playa escondida a la que puedes llegar cruzando el bosque nativo dentro de la propiedad. Atracciones turísticas muy cerca en auto y bicicleta: Puñihuil (Pingüinos y ballenas), fuerte ahui, Playa de Mar Brava, Playa de Guabún, Iglesias de madera.
