There is a definite emphasis on enjoying the outdoors and also on running a sustainable and environmentally-friendly Estate. We have a huge international guest base and you will have the opportunity to communicate with people from a huge array of different backgrounds and cultures.
Beyond the castle & campsite... The island of Skye has had a long, and at times, turbulent history. Bloody battles were fought between the Clans and territories and castles constantly changed hands. The land is therefore rich in history and there are a large variety of interesting sites to see. From prehistoric remains, to medieval castles and churches, to abandoned crofts and townships, and picturesque towns. The Isle of Skye is blessed with wild, rugged mountains, windswept lochs and miles of remote coastline. It is the best known of the Scottish islands, and its spectacular combination of mountains and sea creates some of Scotland's most breathtaking scenery. It is a fantastic place to gain a cultural appreciation of the history that this island, and the Hebrides, encompasses.

As we operate 7 days per week during our open season, this role will suit someone interested in working flexible hours, which may include some evenings and/or weekends. In addition, situations may arise that require you to perform other duties or tasks as may be reasonably requested by your line manager. We offer accommodation if required, along with very competitive rates of pay for this key role in our team.

You must have some experience in customer service including retail, cash handling and café work in addition to experience of general site upkeep and maintenance. During the day you can explore the rest of the island, you can go hiking in the Cuillins, fishing, swimming or one of the many other activities Skye has to offer. This would all be made easier, if you had your own vehicle but if you didn't it is possible to hitch-hike around the island and in and out of the campsite. Previous staff members and volunteers have managed to do this.
