We stayed at Ana and Miguels for 9 nights and had a great experience. The location is up in the mountains facing the sun all day and the air is beautifully clear. We helped closely with Miguel most days who showed infinite patience and willing to educate us on all of the goings on on their gorgeous property.
The food that Ana cooked was incredible

The animals are all very friendly with unique characters that provide much entertainment.
Our tasks involved mucking out animals enclosures, cutting down and planting trees, weeding, pruning and installing fence posts amongst other labouring tasks.
The views from our self contained caravan were outstanding. If working in the winter months we would suggest bringing good waterproofs and thermal clothing as the nights get cold.
Overall a priceless experience that we would recommend to anyone.

I had the great pleasure of spending one week with Ana and Mikel in the little paradise they created over the years, driven by love and respect for the local vegetation. A paradise for humans, plants, and animals on top of a hill with marvelous views of the mountains of Cantabria and the Atlantic.
I worked for four hours a day, helping in the
… read more vegetable garden, cutting back shrubs, planting raspberries and rosemary. Working under the supervision of such a friendly, laid-back, and knowledgeable person as Ana and enjoying such wonderful views at the same time was pure pleasure. I had one rainy day when we took one of the animals to the vet and Ana was so kind to show me around in the nearby town by the Atlantic and introduced me to the local tapas. I was also taught how to cook Spanish Croquettes and Paella and enjoyed the deliciously cooked food, much of it fresh from the garden while always having inspiring conversations with Mikel and Ana - only limited by my poor Spanish, which I was determined to use. I am grateful for the patience they had with me.The two of them have a high ecological sensibility, a fine feeling for the essential truths in life, and exude great hospitality.
The caravan is a very cozy place, fitted with love and everything one needs.

Estuvimos en Nates (Cantabria) durante 10 días, en casa de Ana y Mikel, nos recibieron con mucho cariño y amabilidad.

… read more trabajo era conveniente y flexible, disfrutamos trabajar allí, colaboramos con el cuidado de la huerta, hacer caminos y quitar hierba del jardín, también nos pone muy felices poder contribuir en el proyecto de recuperación del bosque autóctono, quitando brotes de eucaliptos y plantando árboles de roble y encina.
Ana es una gran cocinera, luego de cada jornada de trabajo nos esperaba con un super almuerzo y el fin de semana nos agasajó con una paella riquísima.
Pablo, su hijo, un gran compañero de trabajo y de largas charlas de experiencias viajeras.
Mikel supo transmitirnos la pasión que tiene por la recuperación del bosque y de la lucha contra la forestación de especies invasoras con fines comerciales, que atentan contra el suelo y la naturaleza.
Fue muy agradable pasar las tardes con los 3, compartiendo conocimientos, historias, hablar de arte, opiniones y pareceres.
Gracias Ana y Mikel por ser unos anfitriones geniales, seguiremos en contacto y ojalá pronto nos volvamos a ver.
Definitivamente recomendamos que apliques y vivas esta experiencia.

They welcomed me as a family member, giving me all the comforts of a 5 stars hotel. They live in a wonderful property, at the top of an hill among the nature, with an astonishing view of the river and the sea.

Ana is an incredible lady, funny, full of positive energies and with an admirable philophy and attitude toward life. She taught me a lot about medicinal plants and how to organize a garden. Moreover she is the best chef of Spain, no doubt.
Mikel is a knowlodgeble, funny and deep soul. I never got bored with him and we talked a lot about history, every 2 sentences I could learn something new.
I highly recommend this project, you won't regret.
