I have had such a good time with this family near Avoca, two weeks was not enough. You should have a try helping them, it's a pleasure ;)

This was a nice place to be for the two weeks at the end of the summer. Great nature, plentiful delicious food, very nice cabin and a friendly family, Clothilde, John, Naoise, Nele and Anna.
Meeting of the waters, a cool spot, is nearby + a bus goes from there to other areas of Wicklow.
The work side of things was all grand.

Connor is hard working and diligent, he was very respectful of everything and everyone. He likes to keep to himself but we have shared some nice dinner times and chatter. I thank him very much for in invaluable help in clearing a lot of overgrown areas and cutting wood.

Anna has been a wonderful help and company for the weeks she spent with us. She also minded the house for a week as we were away, and she did a great job! I was doing an intensive course for the first 3 weeks and I was not around during the day and studying in the evening (thankfully for her my family was a bit more available in the evenings!),

We love food and we have a well equiped kitchen and pantry and Anna availed of it 100% , she experimented, made wonderful meals and desserts that all the family enjoyed! What I liked most is that she communicates easily, she has no problem asking or discussing something she needs or would like, she aks questions, she listens, makes suggestions, she is genuine and honest which makes the relationship trusted and easy. Anna was very popular with my two daughers aged 19 and 21. Her sister joined her to stay with us as well, we did not spend much time with her as we were away for most of it but she has the same ethos as Anna and all went very well. In short, anyone who will welcome Anna is very lucky, she is an exceptional workaway and person, I wish her the very best in her adventure :-)

I originally planned to stay 3 weeks at Riverlodge and ended up staying nearly 5! And I would happily have stayed even longer at this gorgeous home in the Avoca Valley. Clothilde, John, Nele and Anna have become another of my 'families away from home.'

Clothilde maintains an impressive vegetable garden in the polytunnel and I loved tending the summer plants and doing a solid amount of weeding. I also helped John split and stack wood for the winter, clean some of the beekeeping gear, and give the kitchen a deep clean.
One of my favourite things was cooking in Clothilde's kitchen - I think she keeps the best stocked pantry I have ever seen at a workaway! Lots of her own preserves and every kind of herb and spice to cook any cuisine. She has a great cookbook collection too, and I had so much fun experimenting with different recipes and garden produce.
The family were so generous with me, showing me around lots of great local places to explore. I hiked in the Wicklow mountains, went to a couple of local pubs, hung out in the towns of Bray and Arklow and visited the Powerscourt estate. Nele and Anna are so lovely to hang out with and would always offer to take me into town when they were going.
and as for the place itself, it couldn't get more picturesque! The house is surrounded by stunning walks and old ruins. The Avoca river is a short walk away with lovely swimming spots. And the volunteer accommodation is the most gorgeous cabin situated about the house.
I will miss this place a lot. Thank you Clothilde and family for a dreamy Irish summer.Weitere Bilder

I felt welcomed right away and was shown the ropes in super easy to understand and remember ways !! All communication was quick and clear - I didn't have a single issue that couldn't be solved asap ! A few hours of work a day including beautiful hikes around Avoca, up into the hills and back - truly a place to remember !!

My stay in Avoca was fantastic! The property is in a beautiful hilly area with lots of outdoor stuff to do. From the very beginning I felt welcome and integrated in the daily life. The work was a variety of garden stuff and helping around the kitchen. I was shown Clo’s bees, river swims and got a fantastic little cabin to stay in for myself. We

The time I spent in County Wicklow with Clothilde and her family has been an incredibly rewarding experience. This was only my second WorkAway, so I wasn’t sure what all to expect, but I couldn’t have had a better experience. I also have to thank the whole family for speaking French with me — it was great practice and I learned a lot.
I wish them all the best and will cherish my time with them for a long time to come. Merci !Du kannst nur Workawayer mit aktiver Mitgliedschaft kontaktieren.

I had a fabulous time staying with Clothilde, John & their family in the Vale of Avoca. My accomodation was superb, a self contained cabin with ensuite shower/toilet. Although my stay was short, just 10 days, I had an interesting variety of jobs including weeding, planting & landscaping. Clothilde has an extensive knowledge & experience of edible

I want to thank the whole family for hosting me, including me as one of their family & hope we can stay in touch.Vom Host für Workawayer (Mike)

Staying in Avoca was by far one of the best experiences I’ve had here in Ireland (and I’ve been here for 7 months). From the moment Clothilde picked me up from the train station, I felt like I was going to be treated just like another member of their family. I was only with them for a little over a week because they graciously took me in last

Work-wise, it changed daily (partially because of the weather), ranging from weeding to planting seeds to collecting and moving timber to making beeswax wraps. Because I was there for only a short time, Clothilde did her best to show me around and let me having time to go hiking (because she knows I love to walk). This sometimes meant going on errands with her and she’d give me time to explore Arklow or Wicklow while she did what she needed to get done. The girls and John were also super welcoming. I’m super happy to have gotten to bake snickerdoodles with Nele and have now been educated on the movie, Young Offenders :) Although I might not have had as much “down time” as I’ve had at some of the other places I’ve stayed, it didn’t bother me at all because I was in such a beautiful place with such amazing people. I would come back here in a heartbeat!Du kannst nur Workawayer mit aktiver Mitgliedschaft kontaktieren.
