We own two rental property, and my partner and I manage one hostel in Boston, the largest city in New England,and the city with two of the most important universities in the USA and the world. It is a hostel for travelers. Generally we need help with checking guests in, cleaning, daily household work, and some light maintenance work (painting, cutting grass, gardening, etc). We're looking to host and exchange different culture. Our minimum stay is one month, if you can stay close to one month, feel free to contact us. A plus if you are active physically and likes to keep active in outdoor activities, and a mature responsible person willing to help.
Live in an American city and explore the best of New England, in the largest city in New England. You will be exposed to a lot of different cultures, since we host travelers. Boston is a vibrant city with lots of history. We are located near the Boston train red line and the city center is 3 stops from us. We're also located walking distance to the South Boston beach. Yes! The beach is swimmable, you wouldn't expect that in the city but it does exist! Our property is located on a quiet residential street, but a short distance to the main street and the public metro (the T, as it's called in Boston). We're near a swimmable beach in South Boston and Vietnamese town, where you can get great Pho and Banh Mi. You can take at the same time English classes, the Boston Public Library offers free English classes and plenty free activities in summer!!
We work hard on keeping clean and tidy for our guest, this is our priority, as well to be friendly and polite with our guest from different cultures. We try to keep a calm and relax environment, so everyone can enjoy a cup a tea and a nice talk. This is not a party Hostel, so we ask to everyone to collaborate to have a chill environment.
We want host someone responsible and mature who can execute the activities without supervision, we are not looking for people who wants free housing with an attitude or disrespectful to us, the permanent staff or our guests. We want people friendly and helpful, that are open to socialize with all the people in the house, regardless their culture, race, language, age, apperance, etc. Ideally people over 25 YO, comfortable in a bilingual environment (we speak English and Spanish).
If you're not into keep clean and a mature person to be in a share space please do not apply since this won't be a place for you.
We have been experiencing with volunteers that not doesn't help but create a bad environment or lie about doing the activities or cleaning after themselves. We do not host short or long term this kind of people.
We don't allow to smoke or keep marijuana in our house, since is a guest house and not everyone smokes and has different meanings in different cultures.
Our busiest season is summer, please have this in consideration, if you want to come in summer expect to have a house full of guest and being active during your shifts.
For qualified applicants with a valid work visa, or for USA residents who don't need a visa, we offer a paid wage. For workawayers with special skills such as tour guide, yoga, cooking, general maintenance, deep cleaning, etc, we can provide opportunities to earn extra income to aid in your travel. Please do NOT ask about paid work unless you have a VALID work visa, as we cannot offer payment to people without work authorization. We offer different kind of rewards ONLY to volunteers that do an outstanding job!! Rewards can be tickets, gift cards, free staying in our second guest house, opportunities to earn extra money, etc. (we ONLY offer please do not ask since we don't give this things to people who don't collaborate), etc.

You'll have plenty of time off to explore the city. Rent a bike and explore the city by night, see the historical sites, relax at the local beach, visit museums and famous universities around Boston and Cambridge. I also have a small motor boat and if you're interested, you can help me lobster fish in the summer months. So this will work well for someone who likes to be active and do sports.

I can provide a spot for a small/medium size campervan only. Something like a Chevy Astro, or max size dodge promaster... but the smaller the better. As an owner of a Chevy Astro camper van myself, we can work something out.

She was friendly to the guests and was very helpful when they needed it. In the spring, we are often very busy
and Elisa handled the hustle and bustle very well, and things went smoothly.
I would definitely host Elisa again.
