We are a Social Enterprise organization, running a quirky events and celebrations venue near Cambridge, operating mainly at weekends only. The business profits help fund a number of social projects within a UK registered charity.
There are many ways to get involved, learning new skills and sharing a cultural experience with us during your stay: hospitality and housekeeping, general maintenance, gardening, food preparation and kitchen duties.
We are happy to work with longer stay volunteers, those who are looking to stay for longer periods of 2 months or more. If you already have the hospitality experience and skills and can hit the ground running all the better but training will be given so not a necessity.
We welcome carpentry and gardening skills and hands-on people, we will gladly support as best we can anyone with a viable social business idea of their own whilst they stay with us. We are also looking for artists to come and get creative! design and assist with decor....make your mark!
We get some great volunteers with big hearts, open minds and visions to share.

You can certainly learn hospitality, general maintenance, cooking skills, as much as you wish to learn. You can also learn about social enterprise and our charity, again as much as you want to learn!
Depending on the season/period, we have accommodation for up to six volunteers.
Volunteer tasks are flexible during typically a five-hour workday; for 25 hours a week. Although during busy functions we may ask you to do more. But you will be compensated with more time off during the week, organized outings and group activities. You will do tasks at your own pace (with minimal supervision) unless of course you're volunteering in hospitality!
We require a minimum stay of three weeks. But, we are prioritizing applications for longer stays in order to maintain a good service.
We do have some tobacco smokers, but outdoors only. Other substances and drugs are strictly forbidden on the site.
Sorry to say it but all volunteers must be able to speak and understand English, due to the nature of our venue and the guests we serve. We have free Wi-Fi and computer access for your use.
For those few volunteers who wish to join us for Social Business development we have a special invitation. Our charitable mission is to assist those with a passion for social change through Social Entrepreneurship, this means sustaining yourself and your social objective through ethical business. For those who demonstrate this commitment before arrival, we will encourage and support them to develop their ideas during their stay. These applicants would stay a minimum of 3 months, hopefully taking home a sustainable project. You would become a member in our international network offering long-term support and friendship

Things to do in Cambridge (from Visit Cambridge website):
There’s a choice of galleries showcasing an impressive range of art, from the contemporary to the classic, a buzzing theatre and performance scene presents drama, dance and family shows and you can enjoy all kinds of live music from internationally acclaimed orchestras and ensembles to touring pop stars, pub gigs, the world-famous Folk Festival, ever-popular Beer Festival, and magical Secret Garden Party festivals. You can go punting on the River Cam, enjoy a picnic in the park, join a walking tour of the city or explore the excellent network of cycle paths in and around the city. Cambridge University is made up of different colleges, some of which have old and beautiful buildings to admire. King’s College Chapel is celebrated for its choir services. If you have a chance to hear the sublime Choir of King’s College, you will be enchanted. As well as the free-to-enter University of Cambridge’s Fitzwilliam Museum, which houses world-class collections of art and antiquities spanning centuries and civilizations and Kettle’s Yard, one of the country’s finest galleries and a major centre for 20th century and contemporary art. Visitors will find a wide range of artworks, sculpture trail walks and galleries to appreciate. In summer, Cambridge is buzzing with al fresco performances of music in the parks and green spaces. There are also plenty of bars, pubs, restaurants, shops and cafes to enjoy.
We have some pleasant walks around the venue and are nicely placed on a cycle route for cycling into Cambridge, or to the two local pubs and village shop.
