🏡 Art, Life, and Co-creation Project

🌟 Vision and Story: Building Together, One Step at a Time
Welcome to our space in the historic town of Hagi, Yamaguchi Prefecture. I’m TORU, an artist.

After living abroad for 10 years, I returned to Japan to create this experimental hub.
My mission is to tackle social issues in Japan—such as the problem of vacant homes and population decline—through “peace initiatives and multicultural coexistence via art.”

This symbolizes my belief in moving forward one step at a time. This is not a finished guesthouse, but an ongoing project. I am looking for like-minded people who can enjoy the process of updating this space with their own hands.

    🛠️ Activities: 2026 Project Plan
Due to limitations in my language skills and operational constraints (related to my ADHD), I can only accommodate one individual or group at a time. I cannot host multiple groups simultaneously.

Depending on your skills, you will assist with the following activities:

    ⚪︎ Active Tasks (Maintenance) [March–July]

    * DIY, warehouse painting, gardening (weeding), and general cleaning.

⚪︎ Creative Work (Operational Support) [September – November]
    * Cooking, meditation, project planning, design, etc.

    🥗 Stay Conditions and Rules

    * Length of stay: Negotiable depending on the project and your skills (short-term to medium- or long-term).

    * Work hours: 3 hours per day, 5 days per week (flexible).

    * Expenses: I (the host) will cover all costs for materials needed for renovations and events.

    * Required Attitude: Since I am often away during the day due to other work, I am looking for independent individuals who can find their own work and enjoy it.

    * Note: This project is not suitable for those with a lifestyle that involves “sleeping until noon.”

    * What We Provide: basic vegetables (potatoes, onions, etc.) are provided free of charge. For other ingredients, we will either split the cost or you will need to purchase them yourself.

    * Note: I operate a vacation rental next door, but volunteer duties will not involve that business. A professional cleaning service visits once a week.

    🏠 Facilities & Access

    * Accommodations: Private Japanese-style room (tatami mats and futon), air conditioning, induction cooktop, and shower room.

    * Transportation: Bicycles are available for use (please cover the cost of any flat tires or repairs yourself).

    * Studio: You may use the shared studio “Studio Nomad,” but cleaning and setup are required.

    * Location: Ask us for the location!

Please note, please check your schedule and transportation options before contacting.

Hagi is a town where history and nature blend beautifully, perfect for exploring during your vacation.
A large river flows in front of the houses, with shrines and fields nearby.
Activities abound to enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings, such as strolling along the coast or through the mountains.

You can deeply immerse yourself in Hagi's rich history by visiting UNESCO World Heritage sites, strolling through remarkably well-preserved samurai residences and merchant districts, exploring traditional temples, and discovering local museums. Visiting Hagi-yaki pottery workshops and browsing local craft shops is also highly recommended.

For transportation, many attractions are easily accessible on foot or by bicycle, allowing you to soak up the local atmosphere while touring.
