This is a call to all those who would like to create change, collaborate, and co-create a new story. A story in which people live in harmony with each other and the natural world. A story in which the well-being of future generations is safeguarded and secured.
We are taking direct action in the face of pressing environmental and social concerns. We have the tools to restore degraded landscapes and ecosystems. We have the knowledge and skills to create networks and communities that can co-create new ways of approaching life, new ways of working together, collaborating and co-creating from the heart, restoring a personal connection to the Earth and all life that she supports.
We would like to invite you to be a part of this new story. We would like to share the skills and knowledge that inspires and empowers people to restore their connection to the natural world, and in so doing restores the ecological integrity of the spaces around them.Taking practical steps to creating a world that honors all life, and creates abundant possibilities for future generations.
Our volunteer program is a central pillar in meeting this objective. We offer an immersive learning experience, engaging heads, hearts, and hands, in service to nature, co-creating holistic systems that support regenerative lifestyles and communities.
We are a small, burgeoning community working towards ecosystem restoration. We have beautiful food gardens where we grow organic greens and vegetables (based on Permaculture principles). We are piloting holistic ecosystem restoration models, reforesting indigenous forest, restoring degraded land, and creating healthier soils and environment. We have a tree nursery where we nurture and propagate trees for our forest restoration project. Part of this work involves clearing the invasive vegetation and then reforesting with local flora.
We have a working sawmill to process invasive vegetation (mostly Eucaylptus and Pine) into timber for our carpentry workshop, and plan on experimenting with tiny house construction soon. We plan to establish a productive agroforestry system soon, and our vision is to become a Living Learning Centre for the future.
The program is for individuals who resonate with this vision and the work that we do, and are interested in being part of our community project for a period of time.
We are looking for short term volunteers (3 weeks) with the opportunity to take on a longer term positions for certain individuals with specific skill sets that are needed on the land. The program for short term volunteers is dependent on the projects we are working with at the time.
As a community, we have the opportunity to learn from one another, to discover and explore the power of collaboration and co-creation. Spending time in community provides us with the opportunity to explore new ways of being, relating to ourselves, each other and nature. In this space we learn, and grow and create together.
We practice various natural health and wellness modalities, both as individuals and as a community on our path of personal and collective evolution and growth. Some of these include meditation, yoga, flow arts, sweat lodge, plant based eating, and natural medicines. We invite you to connect deeply with yourself, and with nature, to act mindfully, and to consciously co-create with us.
The work exchange is for two plant-based meals per day, accommodation, as well as the hands on learning opportunities that this project offers in practical permaculture, agro-ecology, ecosystem restoration, soil creation, plant-based cooking, woodwork, music, art, and more.
We work together for 5 hours each day and have weekends to rest. We prepare and eat meals together & helping in the kitchen is another task for volunteers to get involved in. In a community, we share responsibilities.
There is space to host talks or workshops. We encourage you to share your skills, knowledge, and passions with the team or with the local community. In your spare time volunteers have the opportunity to explore and utilize the beautiful, simple facilities here, like the yoga hall, community kitchen, and surroundings.
We are positioned right next to the indigenous forests of the Garden Route National park, inhabited by ancient trees, diverse plant and animal life, including the mysterious Knysna elephant, vervet monkeys, baboons, the Knysna Lourie, and much more. We are about 30 minutes walk from the Homtini river, which offers opportunity to immerse yourself in nature, swim, or adventure down the river gorge. If you have a vehicle, you can explore the nearby towns of Knysna, Plettenberg Bay and Sedgefield over weekends.

Our volunteers have the opportunity to learn both theoretical and practical knowledge about building soil, channeling and storing water, regenerating degraded landscapes, growing organic food, natural medicines, nutrition, plant based living and loads more.
The land and infrastructure require immediate expansion in a number of areas, this requires the physical capability and presence of more than one or two individuals at a time. We offer a program of energy exchange for volunteers to be able to live and work with us on the land and learn experientially about nurturing the relationship between themselves and nature to keep the flow of healing energy alive with creativity and enthusiastic participation!
We have a beautiful organic vegetable garden, which we have recently expanded. The garden itself is an opportunity for practical learning about how to grow food with permaculture methods, how to harvest produce and save seeds, how to identify and utilize medicinal plants and how to connect with Nature.
The property is on the boundary of the indigenous Knysna forest. So we are thinning out the alien species on the land and reforesting the land with indigenous trees, this is a project which we will oversee for the next fifteen years. At the moment we are doing a lot of clearing of thick alien overgrowth, this is quite physical work, but very good for working out all the muscles in your body, getting into a healthy sleep cycle and it requires little to no experience or knowledge to participate, only a happy and enthusiastic attitude to be fun and exciting!

Volunteers are expected to bring a tent. Camping is free for volunteers. Please bring a sleeping bag/own bedding and pillow. Small wooden huts that sleep two people each, equipped with a clean linen and duvet are also available by arrangement. Please specify what your needs are.
There is a river gorge 900 meters from our land, the hike to get there is through a beautiful descending ravine of thick indigenous forest. It's a fun way to spend a sunny day! There are no restaurants, hang out places, grocery or other shops nearby and we are an hours drive from the nearest town, so make sure you bring what you need to eat and drink..
