  This is the time when many new jobs begin, and with autumn, in addition to caring for the plants, there is sowing to be done if the rains arrive, but there is also a cistern that collects rainwater to be restored and a shed to be built for storage. Anyone interested in participating in an experience and learning about the natural environment is welcome.
  
  Come to Vallonazzo to help, enjoy and take care of a special place on the island of Filicudi.
  
  There is a small house on the rock in a large valley on an island called Filicudi, in the Aeolian Archipelago. The house is equipped with cisterns that collect rainwater and is powered by an off-grid photovoltaic system. All around are ancient abandoned terraces, some of which we are restoring with crops of ancient grains, legumes, vegetables and various spices.
  . In recent years, we have also planted about fifty new fruit trees. Around the house are ancient olive trees, capers and lots of Mediterranean flora such as heather, broom, mastic, flowers... and mushrooms in autumn. The house overlooks the sea and is located at an altitude of about 290 metres. It takes about 12 minutes to reach it from the car park, and from there you can drive down or walk for about half an hour, admiring the ancient municipal roads. There are other houses along the way, which we call the neighbourhood, just a few minutes away. There is always so much to do and invent here... Every day is different if lived with passion and creativity, developing the art of making do with what you have and what you can do. I would add that we cook together every day and take care of the house; it's part of what we do.
  
  
  I need volunteers for sincere help, to participate in a variety of activities, some of which may be tiring, on an island rich in natural beauty and part of the UNESCO heritage. The work involves manual activities outdoors, immersed in the tranquillity and unique landscapes of the island.

  I would add that it is difficult for me to accommodate two people, because of space, unfortunately not a couple I have not had good past experiences with them. sorry. maybe in the future
  
  It is also nice to cook together and clean the house, which is a useful refuge when you need to gather your thoughts and rest.
  
  If you love nature and want to contribute to the conservation of a historic site in a picturesque setting, we would be happy to have you with us. There is always a need to take care of the land, sow seeds, tend to the trees and speak different languages. We offer food and accommodation; you can pitch your tent under the olive trees or stay in the house. Living on an island in the middle of the sea means adapting to its rhythms and habits, immersed in the purity of the elements, in silence, in encounters, in solitude and in the joy of living. Here, things are done for the pleasure of doing them and out of curiosity!

  In questo periodo iniziano tanti nuovi lavori e con l'autunno oltre la cura delle piante c'è da seminare se arrivano anche le pioggie, ma c'è anche da ripristinare una cisterna che raccoglie l'acqua piovana e costruire un capanno per ripostiglio. per chi e' interesato a vivere una esperienza di partecipazione e curiosita dell'ambiente naturale è invitato.
  
  Vieni al Vallonazzo per aiutare, gioire e prenderti cura di un luogo speciale nell’isola di Filicudi.
  
  C’è una piccola casa sulla roccia in un grande vallone su un’isola chiamata Filicudi, nell'Arcipelago delle Eolie. La casa è dotata di cisterne che raccolgono l’acqua piovana ed è alimentata da un sistema fotovoltaico a isola. Tutto intorno si trovano antichissimi terrazzamenti abbandonati, alcuni dei quali stiamo recuperando con coltivazioni di grani antichi, legumi, ortaggi e spezie varie. Negli ultimi anni abbiamo piantato anche una cinquantina di nuovi alberi da frutto. Intorno alla casa ci sono antichi ulivi, capperi e tanta flora mediterranea come erica, ginestra, lentisco, fiori… e funghi in autunno. Dalla casa si può vedere il mare, ci troviamo a circa 290 metri di altitudine. Ci vogliono circa 12 minuti per raggiungerla dal parcheggio, e da lì si può scendere con la macchina o camminare per circa mezz’ora, ammirando le antiche strade comunali. Ci sono altre case lungo il percorso, che chiamiamo vicinato, a pochi minuti di distanza.
  
  Qui c'è sempre tanto da fare e inventare... Ogni giorno è diverso se vissuto con passione e creatività, sviluppando l'arte di arrangiarsi con quello che si ha e con ciò che si può fare. Aggiungo che cuciniamo insieme ogni giorno e ci prendiamo cura della casa; è parte di quello che facciamo.

  Ho bisogno di volontari per un sincero aiuto, partecipare a una varieta' di attivita e forse anche faticose in un’isola ricca di bellezze naturali e parte del patrimonio UNESCO. l lavori prevedeno attività manuali all’aperto, immersi nella tranquillità e nei paesaggi unici dell’isola.
  
  Bello è anche cucinare insieme come le far le pulizie, la casa come un rifugio utile quando serve raccogliersi e riposare.
  
  Se ami la natura e vuoi contribuire alla conservazione di un sito storico in un contesto suggestivo, saremo felici di averti con noi. C’è sempre bisogno di prendersi cura del terreno, di fare eventuali semine, curare gli alberi e parlare lingue diverse. Offriamo cibo e ospitalità; puoi piantare la tua tenda sotto gli ulivi o soggiornare in casa. Vivere su un’isola in mezzo al mare significa adattarsi ai suoi ritmi e alle sue abitudini, immersi nella purezza degli elementi, nel silenzio, negli incontri, nella solitudine e nella gioia di vivere. Qui si fanno le cose per il piacere di farle e per curiosità!

  Unterkunft

  It is always possibile to Camp around the house, under an olive tree, with your own tent. We do not have own tents but possibly a bedroom
  
  There is food for breakfast and coffee, fruit and some baked stuff. By this we try to cook twice a day. Sometimes we go buy a fish or some meat. Once a week it arrives a bully selling fruit and vegetables. We ask for collaboration buying the food and preparing it. If there is help exchange we cover the expenses.

  Getting to the island is possible
  from Milazzo with a fast boat, Libertylines for 25€ It is every day
  From Naples with a slow boat that goes 2/3 time for 55€
  From Palermo ONLY during summer(06-09) for 45€
  At home it is difficult to call or use the internet, but if you take a 5 minutes walk you can relax on a rock and do what you want online.
  
  In the free time you can Go to the seaside, take a boat, fish, hike and enjoy the beauty of the island. Once or twice we play football at around 15 min walk from the house with the people living on the island, you are welcome to join.
  
  There are more people during summer and places like bars or restaurants open. During other seasons people still meet at the little harbour Pecorini for a drink in front of the sunset or a chat.
