It’s SHOWTIME! Who likes Halloween?!!!
Looking for someone to help starting now, or future months up until end of this year.
Nothing past 2023.
Halloween goes big around here and we’re looking for help with several projects including a community haunted house! This will entail tasks like painting, crafting, building, event planning, organizing and clean up.

Always doing artistic upgrades to my 150 yo Victorian!
Organizing, deep cleaning, basic maitence along with set design tricks, basic construction, sewing, lighting and painting techniques. We are not your basic home, it is an extremely creative and theatrical visual environment.
I teach you along the way all the steps, if you are handy or crafty at all it will be easy for you to follow.
Also.. I have a 18 month old so extra help for a single mommy helps so much!
Having a car is a big plus.
Other jobs might include sewing, maintenance, house chores, deep cleaning, organizing, cooking, running errands, gardening. It’s a big place and we need help keeping it looking nice while we create huge messes from making art.

General info.
I run a big ol crazy Victorian in the heart of Oakland. My home is filled with Art, friends, music, animals and oddities. My lifestyle (normally) consist of being a costume designer, set designer, events coordinator, arts community leader and photographer. My projects change all the time and I've found workaway an amazing tool to meet talented, loving, helpful, world traveling folks. I can't speak highly enough about how much I love this type of symbiotic relationship.

I have a lot of experience in the art world that many pay 1000s of dollars to go to art school for. This is an opportunity for hands on real life experience with fashion, set design and production work. Many of my guests have used the things I have taught them and sets we have built together in their portfolios to obtain jobs in creative fields.
Oakland also is a melting pot of a city. Our home celebrates all ethnicity's, gay friendly, and all around acceptance.

I like to host most helpers for about a month as its easier when everyone is accustomed to how things work here, where stuff is. etc etc.
I do a one week trial period for all helpers who stay here to make sure it is a good fit for the house tasks and my tenants as well.
Times of your stay here can vary though, we sort of feel it out and have hosted people from just a few days while they were traveling though to several months.
We have also have had a lot of return helpers and to this day I have kept in touch with so many amazing folks and made long lasting friendships.

We live in a neighborhood that is only about 3 min bike ride to Lake Merritt which is a really pretty and active part of Oakland, with awesome shops, restaurants and bars. Oakland has a super diverse culture and is fast becoming the new hip city to live in due to the flood of creative types and musicians migrating here. BUT we still live in an urban city that is not as safe as a suburb, so I feel that its important you be city savvy. I HIGHLY ENCOURAGE you do your research on Oakland before contacting me.
We are just a few Bart ride stops away from San Francisco and a very short car ride away from redwood hiking. I can drive you around to short destinations if you don't have a car.
I also have taken my workers traveling with me, camping, Disneyland, movies, bars, shows, dance clubs, parties... you name it.
