We are a Earth-loving, song weaving, food growing community based in the Appalachian mountains outside of Asheville, NC. There are 6 adults and 1 child that live here permanently, with others coming and going. Our project is young and taking shape every day. We began our journey tending this 20 acre plot of magnificent Earth in December 2018. Our intention is to live here in a way that is life serving and a gift to future generations and to grow most our own food, to live communally while consuming as little as possible from industries that cause environmental destruction. Our vision is for this project to be a blessing to the community and to all of Earth's inhabitants. We aim to make a safe, magical, and uplifting place for children to play and grow up in. We believe that it is human nature to share, to uplift and serve one another, and live together in harmony with each other and the natural world. Here at our home, we pray to cultivate deep peace, happiness, and health and serve as an example for others wishing to create positive cultural change.
We pray to live on this land in a good way and tend it in a way that honors the indigenous people who came before us. We acknowledge both the privilege and abundance of our lives and the murderous colonization that has allowed us to own this land, We hope to use the privilege we have to give a gift to those less privileged than us, to weave a healing web of community that nourishes those around us. Through growing food and feeding the hungry, hosting wise elders and wisdom keepers, heart-opening and connective workshops, and living in harmony together, we hope to make something beautiful of this generous and gracious life here on this piece of Mother Earth.
We run an apprenticeship program for local folks:

Handwerkliche Arbeiten
We are an intentional community that values seeing the best in people, compassionate communication, healthy living, and a deep reciprocal relationship with all of life. Our guest might learn anything from nature connection, wild plant and mushroom ID, soil science, permaculture design, how to plant a fruit tree, natural building, humanure and composting, and generally how to live as a healthy loving community. We love to sing, dance and make music together and welcome musicians, dancers, singers, and those who don't know they are those things yet :-).
Dieses Projekt schließt möglicherweise den Umgang mit Kindern ein. Mehr Informationen findest du in unseren Verhaltensregeln und Tipps hier.

We grow all kinds of vegetables and flowers, berries and fruits. Berries galore! Medicinal herbs and kitchen herbs. We grow field crops which include potatoes, sweet potatoes, dent corn, squash, onions, and garlic that we cure, store, and eat throughout the year. We are hoping to expand zones, and clear brushy disturbed land for perennial food forest agriculture. Our intention is to grow enough to give away at least 20% of the harvest to food banks and shelters in Asheville.
Building projects on the horizon include building tent platforms, cob oven, wood-fired sauna and hot tub, pagoda, playground, and much more.

Most of us are conversational in Spanish. I would say we speak at a 10-12 year old level. Some better than others. We are interested in learning more Spanish especially. Scotty speaks some Portuguese as well.
Semi-primitive camping. We are only 1 year old community and our infrastructure is limited. Sleeping will be in a tent or bus. We have a nice big pole barn with water, electricity and a basic outdoor kitchen with propane. In the warmer months, we have an outdoor shower for you with only cold water at the moment. Laundry can be done in the house once a week for a small fee, or outdoors bucket style. We will work hard to meet your needs and if you are not comfortable camping and living outside this may not be the best place for you.
Workawayers will have access to an outdoor kitchen where they will cook most of their meals. As your host we provide you with staple foods (grains, beans, pasta, oils, spices) and produce from our farm. You buy meat, dairy, snacks and other special foods. On workdays we will provide lunch that is shared by the whole community.
We are located in Barnardsville, NC, home of gorgeous forests, hiking and biking trails, and waterfalls. Wild foraging, swimming under waterfalls, hikes to mountains and rich coves forests and just a short drive away. The region in general is full of natural beauty as well as many artists and homesteaders living rich and fulfilling lives. Asheville is also a 30 minute drive away and rich in alternative culture and arts. Many enjoy the music, dance, arts, food, and culture of that magical mountain town.
