Our organization was founded in 1997 in the rural villages near the city of Chiang Khong, Thailand. The co-directors, P’Pan and P’Got, have worked passionately for years to educate and offer counselling to members of their community who have been affected by HIV/AIDS.

After experiencing a great deal of discrimination from both health care providers and members of the community after her late husband was diagnosed with AIDS, and after she was diagnosed with HIV, P’Pan felt compelled to help others in similar situations. On a similar situation, P’Got was mistakenly diagnosed with HIV and lived for years with the weight and discrimination of this false diagnosis. Together, they strive to end the stigma attached to those living with HIV/AIDS, and work hard to prevent the spread of HIV, STDs and unwanted pregnancy through educating community members of all ages.

The foundation offers many services to their community. They provide free condoms & STI information to the community and local schools. They signpost people to HIV testing centres. They also do a great deal of educating members of their community about safe sex and how to prevent HIV, STDs and unplanned pregnancy. P’Pan and P’Got also train and inform youth leaders, local leaders and other influential local people about sexual health.

They currently work within the Chiang Khong region and offer a safe place and impartial counselling for those who have been affected by HIV/AIDS or other STDS, unplanned pregnancy, domestic violence, and human trafficking.
They work closely with an organisation in Chiang Khong called Centre for Girls, who also offer a safe space for women who have been victims of human trafficking or domestic violence. They also work closely with Boonchua, a local charity who provide transport & first aid to those who cannot get to the local hospital.
We also provide financial, educational (workshops, information and seminars) and emotional support to whoever needs it.

You will live with other volunteers in a two story, two bedroom Thai-style wooden home. You will have a private room, with a mosquito net and fan, a shared kitchen and bathroom.

You will be able to use the kitchen any time. Delicious, traditional Thai meals will be prepared for you by your hosts. P’Pan & P’Got live two minutes down the road and you will have your meals either with the community, at their home or with their relations.

Please note as this is a rural area, the facilities are very basic and to get around independently you will need to ride a scooter or a push bike. P’Pan and P’Got do have these, along with a car, so just ask if you need a lift or want to borrow them.

We do have running water, fridge freezer, one cold shower, washing machine, electricity and a great internet connection.
