  Beschreibung

  We are looking for a friendly, practical person or couple to stay with us for approximately two weeks during the first part of October, ideally arriving in early October and leaving no later than 19 October. The dates can be slightly flexible within this period.
  
  We are a friendly, quiet couple living in La Tejita in the south of Tenerife, directly opposite the Atlantic Ocean and beautiful Montaña Roja. We share our home with our three rescue pets – Lydia our dog, and Sparky and Amber our cats.
  
  
  La Tejita is a peaceful residential area away from the main tourist resorts, with lovely coastal walks directly from our home. El Médano, with its cafés, restaurants and activities, is around a 25-minute walk away, and La Tejita shopping centre is about 10 minutes away.
  
  We are easy-going and enjoy animals, nature and a quieter way of life. We would particularly welcome someone kind, reliable, independent and practical who would enjoy having their own space while experiencing life in Tenerife.

  Tenerife offers a wonderful opportunity to experience much more than the main tourist resorts. There are traditional Canarian villages and mountain communities, local markets, tapas restaurants and historical sites where you can learn about the island’s culture and its indigenous Guanche heritage.
  
  Places such as Erjos offer a glimpse of quieter, traditional Canarian life, while historic La Laguna has museums, architecture and culture to explore. There is also Teide National Park, Anaga, Vilaflor and many beautiful coastal, mountain and forest walks.
  
  Living in a Spanish-speaking community also provides an opportunity to practise Spanish, while we are English speakers and are always happy to chat and exchange experiences.
  
  With approximately four hours of help on working days, you will have the rest of each day free to relax or explore the island, as well as two completely free days each week. There will be plenty of time to independently discover Tenerife’s history, culture, food and extraordinary landscapes.

  Arbeit

  For this particular stay, we are looking for help with painting and a few straightforward DIY tasks following some recent building tasks on our home.
  
  The main jtaskb will be painting an outside wall where the building work has left the area looking rather tired. There are also some smaller painting and decorating jobs in our downstairs studio.
  
  In a few small areas, particularly around the boiler, the wall surface has deteriorated due to damp and may need some preparation, filling or light plastering, or possibly fitting lightweight wall panels. These are small areas rather than major plastering or building tasks.
  
  We would particularly welcome someone with previous painting or general DIY experience who is comfortable with straightforward wall preparation and minor repairs.
  
  We are looking for approximately four hours of help a day, five days a week, with two days completely free. If you are coming as a couple, we would expect both of you to take part in the agreed help.
  
  We have three rescue pets, so you will need to be comfortable around animals, although pet sitting is not the purpose of this particular stay.

  Was noch ...

  There is plenty to see and do around Tenerife, with warm weather for much of the year. A good local bus service runs close to the house, with connections to El Médano and other parts of the island. La Tejita shopping centre is around a 10-minute walk away, and there are lovely coastal walks and beaches within walking distance.
  
  For convenience, groceries can also be ordered for home delivery from services such as Mercadona and Bofrost, which can save the need for regular supermarket trips.
