We live in a peaceful farming and fishing village on the shores of Lake Titicaca. We have a community-owned and managed agro-tourism association and receive more than 400 visitors a year from Bolivia and beyond. Visitors live with families, participate in daily life and can go for hikes, swims and guided walks around our beautiful community.
This year (2016) we are building a community center for our association. We are in need of hard-working, get-your-hands dirty volunteers who can help us make adobes for the center. This is hard, repetitive work carried out in dry, cold, windy and spectacularly beautiful scenery and basic Spanish conversation skills are a must as you will be working alongside seasoned adobe makers who will teach you how to do it right.
Interested? We need folks who can commit for a minimum of two weeks as the training process is not quick, making adobes is an art.

You can learn how to make adobes, how people live in a small village on Lake Titicaca, how to speak better Spanish and how to wash your own sheets!
We are looking for hard-working and creative volunteers to help us with two projects: 1) making adobes for our community center during the latter half of August (2016) and all of September and 2) local and on-line marketing of our c community-based tourism project (anytime and can be in La Paz or abroad).
PROJECT 1: Help us build adobes for our new Community Center
PROJECT 2: Help us make our website more visible on the internet
If you speak intermediate or better Spanish (ESSENTIAL) and would like to live in a quiet, beautiful place on the shore of Lake Titicaca and help a small, traditional community improve its agro-tourism project, please join us!
We also need some help in La Paz with promotion, so if you prefer the city please let us know as well.
We are especially looking for volunteers with some time on their hands, so that the effects of your work will have long lasting contributions.
Saludos! Santiago de Okola
