  Located on the foot of Monte Amiata, a former volcano with chestnut and beech forests, nested in the midst of olive groves, vineyards and a bit of wilderness, surrounded by hills with medieval villages on top of them.
  
  Just a few minutes walk-away runs a fresh mountain river, perfect for having a bath and swim on hot summer afternoons, some dare to jump in also when the water is icy ... i prefer the hot springs of San Filippo or Petriolo, both nearby.

  The nearest town (15 minutes by car) is Castel del Piano, a charming place with all kinds of shops, cafes, supermarkets, and piazzas to enjoy a gelato.
  It is crucial to have your own car if you would like to discover the area.
  If you come without your own vehicle I can offer to do some trips to the surrounding villages, but cannot be a tourist guide on free days to explore the wider area.
  
  Volunteers should be rather fit and enjoy working fisically mostly outdoors.
  
  With outdoorsy work the season and weather conditions dictate when we start and finish and how a week developes and I ask for your understanding and a bit of flexibility in case of last minute alterations. Especially in the time of the olive harvest from mid October to mid November this can be the case. A week could be shorter but the days longer, since the aim during this period is, to have a certain amount ready to be brought to the press within 3-4 days. I try not to exceed a 25 hour work weekly and in-between cycles I always plan some days of break, and therefore the possibility to wonder around and explore the area.
  Volonteers who prefer a predefined strict routine regarding workdays and weeks are probably better off with hosts who can plan ahead more precisely. Please be aware of that.
  
  Helpers are accommodated in the little guesthouse which functions totally independent, only a few steps from the big house, where I reside. It has two bedrooms, a bathroom, a kitchen and a big living room.
  I provide breakfast and lunch on workdays and those meals we enjoy together. For dinner I leave volunteers to follow their own rithm, basics provided.
  
  My dog's name is Nemo ... and most peole find that he is the friendliest dog they have ever met.
