Doug and Pat live on the 140 acre Ranch in beautiful BC, Canada. We have two grown boys that work in Alberta, a daughter that lives on the ranch and works nearby in 100 Mile house. Doug and Pat are both retired and busy with keeping the ranch running. It is a big property and we have lots of projects to work on, as well as take care of 6 horses, 1 dog and 2 cats! We have a 7 year old and 12 year old mom/daughter Morgan horse combo that are in training and need lots of miles on them. Pat is a quilter and loves to spend her free time on quilting projects, Doug likes to be outside with the horses. We have been Work-a-way hosts now for 9 years and really enjoy the program. Common chores here are feeding the horses, chickens, gardening, cutting wood for winter, fixing fences, painting, cutting the grass....it never ends :) We enjoy having guests and learning about other peoples cultures and lives. We hope you will cook for us at least once while you stay! We like to play cards in the evenings, horseback ride, ski in the winter.
Spring will be the usual yard cleanup and getting the horses started again. We have another fencing project for May and June, so there will be fencing and woodcutting pretty steady as well. We will start on our winter wood supply in August and September and continue on to October if required. We usually burn about 22 cords of wood, a cord is 128 cubic feet.....so that is literally tons of firewood!
We are hosting a large group of friends July 29-August 4th the summer of 2021. This is a high school class reunion and will have up to 150 people visiting over the weekend. The weekend and the week leading up to it will be very busy and then days off to make up for it after the weekend is over. It will be a fun filled event, but we need help to pull it off.
For 2021 we will require a proof of double vaccination to accommodate any guests going forward.
Our participation for workaway hosting is for our family and not a commercial venture, so we do not provide a salary or hourly wage.
Sorry, we can not accommodate a vegan or vegetarian diet.
Come and joins us for month or two!

We have a travel RV as a summer cabin for our work-a-way guests. It is a 24' camper with self contained bathroom, shower, kitchen. Very nice and clean! In the winter months we sometimes take guests in to our home with us, or we also have an outdoor cabin that is just used for a bedroom. We have a few options and usually sort that out with you in advance.
We are at the base of Mt Timothy ski area, cross country and downhill, snowmobiling, ATV's, horseback riding, hiking
