Mats and Alina were great workawayers to host. They were easy-going and fitted into the household routine very quickly. They were reliable and worked hard on all the tasks and were keen to do a good job. Even though most of the work was weeding and weed-whacking, they approached everything with positivity and good humour. Communication was

We stayed with Cordelia for a week and really felt at home with her. We spent the night in a cosy hut in the garden. During our stay we did a variety of jobs in the garden. Cordelia was very helpful and cooked us delicious and healthy meals in the evening. You could talk to her for hours and we also had a games evening together. She is very open

Steffi and Phillip were superb workawayers in every way! They are a lovely, mature couple who work as a well-developed team with great communication. They were considerate and easy-going guests to have around our (very small) house, and we had some great conversations about world events! They transformed a bare and ugly area of our land, by
… read more clearing, weeding, planting and mulching. They worked really hard and took pride in doing an excellent job - going above and beyond. Steffi is a great cook and was happy to help out with meals. I appreciated their kindness and thoughtful communication and would have them back anytime!

We did all sorts of gardening like planting weeding, mowing ect and felt really appreciated. There is good vibes all around, the cabin is cozy and we got lots of delicious food, even some cake!
Not forgetting Susi, the cutest little dog :)

We really enjoyed having Emilie stay with us for a week. She's enthusiastic, considerate and hard-working. She helped us finish our cabin which is used for Workawayers and other guests. Tasks were mostly working with timber - repairing the old wooden windows (re-puttying, sanding and painting around the glass as well as installing an eave) and
… read more preparing some wooden battens to go on the plywood cladding. She also made some great suggestions for the kitchenette, removed some old features and installed a new kitchen shelf. Unfortunately the weather wasn't good much of the time but she was adaptable and positive.
She's also a fabulous cook! She made us several delicious meals and was always very willing to help with dishes and clean-up.
We had lots of great conversations - she's got a lively and curious intellect and we enjoyed sharing ideas and knowledge over dinner.
We highly recommend Emilie and would have her back anytime!

Cordelia and Duchko were my first workaway hosts after arriving to New Zealand and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.
As stated in their profile, I would work 4 hours a day leaving time for me to explore the area in the afternoons.

They told me places where I could have a walk nearby like the Karamatura falls which was just beautiful and Whatipu where you can walk on the black sand beaches.
I helped clean, putty and paint their windows and helped with adding a new shelf to the kitchenette during my stay. There’s a cute cabin to stay at as well with an amazing view in the morning to wake up to.
In the evenings we would take turns cooking for each other and man did we eat well that week. I will miss Duchko’s Bosnian pita and Cordelia’s paneer. Around the dinner table we’d have very interesting conversations and laughs, and I learned a lot about New Zealand and the native plants here too :)

We loved having Hari and Madison to stay for a week. They're such a great couple to have around - easy-going, communicative and good-humoured. We quickly clicked into a harmonious routine, sharing our small living space.

… read more design, levelling, laying and nailing in timber. It was quite challenging at times - especially when it rained - but they persevered with a positive approach and though it didn't get finished (we underestimated the scale of the job), we were very happy with the result.
In the afternoons/evenings we enjoyed sharing music, meals and wide-ranging conversation. They are both smart and savvy and great cooks!
We were sad to see them go and would have them back, no question. Highly recommend!

The separate cottage for sleeping was cozy and had everything we needed. The property is breathtaking-beautiful trees, garden, chickens, and of course the star of the show, Suzie.
They were very knowledgeable and provided great reccomendations for hikes, lookouts, and beaches in the area (as well as helping us with future travel plans).
Couldn't have asked for a warmer welcome to New Zealand, we have no doubt our paths will cross again.

At times we worked independently, other times we worked together with Cordelia and Duško, always with clear directions. As a result, working felt like a team effort and we finished each day feeling accomplished and invested in the tasks ahead.
We left feeling appreciated for the work we did and content with the lasting connection we made with Cordelia, Duško, and Suzie (of course!). We are grateful for their light-heartedness, curiosity, and kindness.
