  I am a single father, who has the children here part time. My daughter is 4 and my son is 10. She is very spunky, and he is very kind. My mission is to stay in this place as much as possible and make writing, music, and artful builds and permaculture gardening. We enjoy meeting new people, and hanging out here, recreating nearby. I enjoy yoga, long hikes/ climbs, and taking the kids to water features during the summer, and to play in the snow in the winter.

  Our heritage here goes back countless generations. This place is heaven to me, and it this the place I choose to stay and take care of in the world as best I can. This is part of my heritage, and tree legacy I wish to share with my children and family. There is nothing better than sharing a bit of it with new people and to gain a fresh lens on these breathtaking environs. Hanging out with us, you will sample an array of food honed in a culinary practice steeped in the joy, health and quality of a country, out-of-town home. In your leisure time you are welcome to go paddle boarding or fishing with us at a nearby reservoir. I can point or take you to numerous other outdoor activities and locations that I have had the privilege of being exposed to throughout my life. The help you perform here is the kind designed to last and to serve generations beyond our own by way of environmentally sustainable practices.

  Arbeit

  There are numerous infrastructure and permaculture projects in the making on this 2 acres with river running through the middle. Atop the list are forming raised garden beds that will be watered from roof gathered water and help building a self contained compostable outhouse, with a solar shower on the far side. I also want to augment soils with goat manure.

  Unterkunft

  Most likely I will put you up in either our yurt or camper, depending on availability. Both are clean neat and have a really good feel. Both are removed from the main house so you can enjoy their privacy. Both include a stove top and drinking water storage Workawayers can refill at the main house. A cooler and ice can also be provided. Workawayers will be expected to use composting outhouse to take care of necessaries. Enough electricity will be provided in order to power small devices eg. phone, laptop or light. One device at a time. Showers will be made available in the main house or via solar shower depending on the season. We encourage the hot water use be efficient and limited to necessity in order to conserve resources. As for food, we are often a family on the move with two children ages 4 and 10. I am happy to provide a store of go to groceries to keep a Workawayer going as they see fit. We also like to plan special meals together to share in company, and are happy to have Workawayers request that of us even if everyone can't be included due to schedule differences. Meals together are of course preferable, they just take a bit more time and communication around here.

  We are at 8,000 feet above sea level or 2,600 meters roughly. The burgeoning town of Durango with numerous activities is 15 minutes away, down hill to 6,512 feet elevation by car. the La Plata River runs through the middle of our property. The austere La Plata Mountains are in view, extending snowcapped, 13,000 feet above sea level into the sky. A "thirteener" as we know them can be climbed in a day by one with a certain fortitude. "La Plata" means "silver." The (Public Lands) San Juan National forest is about a 10 minute bike ride of the road of here, up La Plata Canyon and extends well beyond. There is also nature hiking to be enjoyed out the back door of this property and much of the property itself is a natural setting, full of birds, and critters and a variety of flora that a riparian environment can provide. We have friendly neighbors, and enjoy occasional neighborhood gatherings in the summer especially.
