Location: Tamesis, Antioquia, Colombia Nestled in the breathtaking mountains of southwest Antioquia, our finca offers a true escape into nature. We are located just 3 hours from Medellín, in a region famous for its mild, "eternal spring" climate and stunning panoramic views.
Támesis is a place where the mountains meet the clouds, known for its rich indigenous history, crystal-clear rivers, and some of the friendliest people in Colombia. Whether you enjoy hiking to ancient petroglyphs, birdwatching, or simply sipping local coffee while watching the sunset over the Cartama Valley, our finca is the perfect base for your Antioquian adventure. Since we are at 1800 meters above sea level, the nights get chilly.
Three bus companies connect the town with Medellin (Terminal del Sur)

    Who are we?
We are a welcoming household passionate about nature, self-sufficiency, and the peaceful lifestyle of the Colombian mountains. We enjoy meeting travelers from around the world and sharing the beauty of our home. We speak English, Portuguese, and Spanish, so don't worry if your Spanish is still a work in progress; we'll help you improve!

    About our Finca:
Our home is a private country estate designed for tranquility and self-sufficiency. While we aren't a commercial farm, we are passionate about the land and cultivate a variety of crops for our own use. During your stay, you'll be surrounded by coffee, cacao, and plantains, as well as an organic mix of local fruits and vegetables. We share our home with 4 dogs, 2 cats, and a flock of chickens, so you must be a true animal lover to stay with us!
We are a 10-minute walk to the town center.

    Duration:
    2 Weeks (Flexible)

What to do on your days off:
Támesis is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts.
The Petroglyphs: Hike the famous ancient rock carvings route.
Waterfalls: Visit local wonders like Salto del Diablo or the San Antonio River Caverns.
Hiking: Trek up to the Cerro de Cristo Rey for the best view in the valley.
Wildlife: The area is world-class for birdwatching.

    The Exchange
We are looking for a friendly, proactive couple to help us maintain our finca for a two-week stay. We believe in a fair exchange: you give us a few hours of focused help, and we provide a beautiful place to stay and plenty of time for you to enjoy the surrounding nature.

    The Schedule:

4 hours per day, Monday through Friday.

Weekends (Sat/Sun) are 100% yours to explore or relax.

We usually start around 7:00 AM, so you have the entire afternoon free. (We are in a rural area, but only 10 minute walk to the town center)

    Kultureller Austausch und Lernmöglichkeiten

We treat our guests as part of the family. You won’t just be "workers" here; you’ll be sharing our home. We love sitting down together for meals to share stories and learn about your corner of the world. Because we speak English, Spanish, and Portuguese, our home is a bridge where we can practice languages together in a relaxed way.

On weekends, we can point you toward the heart of Támesis. It’s a town where the locals are incredibly warm, and we encourage you to visit the local markets, join a birdwatching group, or hike the ancient petroglyph trails. We are happy to introduce you to the local rhythm of life in a "Pueblo" that hasn't been overrun by tourism yet.

    Skills & Knowledge We Share
While we are a private home, we live very closely with the land. We are happy to show you the "bean-to-cup" and "pod-to-bar" process on a small, artisanal scale. You can learn:

Artisanal Coffee & Cacao: How we harvest, dry, and process our own crops for personal use.

Tropical Gardening: The basics of maintaining plantains and local fruit trees.

Animal Care: Life with a "full house" of 4 dogs, 2 cats, and chickens!

What we hope to learn from you
We host because we have a curiosity about the world. We love hearing about different cultures, cuisines, and perspectives. Whether it’s a new recipe you want to cook in our kitchen, a different way of looking at a gardening challenge, or simply sharing music and stories from your travels, we look forward to the "global energy" that travelers bring to our finca.

    Arbeit

Gardening: General maintenance, weeding, and small landscaping and building projects.

Home Care: Light cleaning and helping keep the common areas tidy.

Kitchen: Assisting with meal prep for our family (We provide all ingredients; some meals are shared, others you may prepare for yourselves).

    * While we do run a B&B on our property, you do not have to worry about any activities related to the guests; you will NOT be asked to help in any way with our guests.

Languages spoken or learning Spanish: Native English: Fluent / Proficient Portuguese: Fluent / Proficient Italian: Beginner / Learning Language is a big part of our lives! As a native Spanish speaker who is also proficient in English and Portuguese, I love the way communication opens doors to different cultures. We are very happy to help you practice your Spanish in a relaxed, everyday setting—whether we are gardening or sharing a meal. At the same time, I am currently passionate about learning Italian, so if you happen to speak Italian, I would be thrilled to practice some basic conversation with you! We are open to all volunteers regardless of their native tongue, as long as we can communicate in English, Spanish, or Portuguese. Let’s learn from each other!

The room is clean, secure, and prepared with fresh bedding and towels. You will have a private bathroom and high-speed Wi-Fi, hot water, a large screen TV, a safety box, etc. Making it a great spot for relaxing or catching up with home after a day in the garden.

We pride ourselves on providing a comfortable, clean, and restful space.

    Food & Kitchen Life

    Time Off & Local Adventure
Támesis is a hidden gem that many travelers miss, and we want you to experience the best of it! On your weekends, we highly recommend:

Hiking Cerro de Cristo Rey: A steep but rewarding hike through a cloud forest with a massive statue of Christ and panoramic views of the Cartama Valley.

The Petroglyph Route: Explore ancient rock carvings left by the Embera Chamí people; Támesis has the highest densities of these in Colombia.

Waterfalls & Rivers: Visit the San Antonio River caverns or take a dip in the "puddles" (natural pools) of Río Frío or any other of the 5 rivers and many creeks we have in the area.

Town Life: Spend an afternoon in the main plaza watching the world go by with a cup of local coffee.

    Transport
Getting here is easy! There are direct buses from Medellín’s Terminal del Sur (look for the companies Coopetran, Transportes Tamesis or Jericoana). The ride is about 3.5 hours. Once in town, the finca is accessible by a standard car, motorcycle, a quick local Moto-taxi (Tuk-Tuk), or even a 10-minute walk. If you wish, we will pick you up at the station.

Life at the Finca & House Rules

Our Rhythm: We are morning people! We like to start our 4 hours of help early while the mountain air is fresh.

Animal Lovers Only: With 4 dogs, 2 cats, and chickens, our home is lively. We ask that you be respectful and kind to all our animals.

Shared Spaces: While you have a private room and entrance, we enjoy a tidy home. We ask that you clean up after yourselves in the main kitchen and common areas.

Sustainability: We live close to nature and try to be mindful of our water and electricity use.

We look forward to welcoming you to our little piece of paradise!

    Kann Digital Nomads unterbringen

We welcome digital nomads! If you need to balance your 4 hours of help with a remote job, here is what you should know: Internet Stability: We have a main ISP (via optic fiber) with a speed of 300Mbps, which is very reliable; but just in case, we have a backup ISP with speeds of 10Mbps (which is enough to hold live meetings over Zoom or similar Apps, trust me, I work remotely from here). However, as we are in a rural mountain area, we recommend having a local SIM card (we suggest Claro for the best coverage in Támesis) as a backup hotspot just in case of mountain storms. Workspace: You are welcome to work from your private room (on the dedicated workspace), our patio with mountain views, or the common areas. The Schedule: Since we prefer to finish our help in the morning (usually 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM), your afternoons and evenings are completely free for your deep-work sessions or meetings. In Town: If you ever need a "change of scenery," the town of Támesis is just a short walk away and has a few internet cafes with good Wi-Fi.
