The best place you can ever volunteer at!!! We are so lucky that we have found this place. Promised land sanctuary isn’t just an animal sanctuary, it’s a place where you can actually connect to nature in all kind of ways. It’s start from beautiful huge property that offers 25 acres including swimming pool with view on beautiful forest and animals

She is incredible woman who runs all this amazing mission by herself. Kat embraced us and made us feel like at home and even better. We definitely come back! The words cannot describe how grateful we are to be part of this amazing mission and for the opportunity to get to know Kat, she is such a special person, we are literally fell in love with this place. Thank you again Kat, for everything! We are highly recommend to come volunteer at promised land sanctuary!!!Du kannst nur Workawayer mit aktiver Mitgliedschaft kontaktieren.

Unfortunately I can't say too much about what I experienced there to remain in line with the website's policy, at the risk of having my comment deleted. I'm not telling you not to go, but to take precautions and check that she is committed to respecting the values promoted by the site and what you expect from a volunteer. It's also a good idea to bring along a travel companion - the 2 really cool German girls who was there for my first week really made the environment much more sustainable - and, above all, a plan B, because I was fired and asked to leave immediately, being alone on a continent other than my own in the middle of winter. The place is beautiful and so is the project, I'm really saddened by Kate's situation, and I think she needs all the more help, I only have one wish, that she accepts it.

Hey,
I came here around the biginning of June and stay until the beginning of August.
This 2 month was an amazing experience and my first experience in Workaway ! If you want a good place for your first stay, here it's a good choice !
The farm is a magical place, the animals are very cute and each animal has is own character. It's a peace place
… read more in the middle of the Ontario's countryside. I was here from France to improve my english and to discover the Canadian way of life. It was a good cultural exchange, I met one other workawayer, Cynthia, and I worked with her the whole June's month with pleasure and smile. And I met some others volonteers who come one time per week and everybody are nice. I worked with Nathalie too who came work 2 month at the same time than me. For me, my trip was more funny with other volonteers and to work together ! But if you like the calm of the nature and spend time with yourself like me it's a good place.
For the mission, look at the Myriam's rewiew ! There is not hard work, just farm work, if I did it, you can do it! I worked 4-5h per day. You can choose your 2 days off like you want (good point). For meals most of the time you cook.
During the whole summer, a lot of guest came so you can talk and meet people !
Kat and Nikki are kind and generous, we spend time together at the farm and off the farm. I asked Kat for a bike and she found me a bike (to visit the towns near the farm).
After 2 months, just thank you for this amazing trip that I lived with you.Du kannst nur Workawayer mit aktiver Mitgliedschaft kontaktieren.

Hi!
I came here around the mid-may and stay until the end of june. Overall I really love the farm. The animals are great and the place where we live is amazing. For the cultural exchange, I was lucky enough to have meet two other workaway. So I did have a big cultural exchange! When I arrived at the farm, Miriam was already there. She is the one
… read more who show me everything about the farm and what are the chores that we needed to do. I was with her for 1 week. There is another workaway who came in the beggining of june, so I add a workaway with me all the month of june.
There is only two people living on the farm normally. There is Kat (owner) and Nikki (her daughter). They are really nice and caring people. Nikki doesn't help with the barn chores. She is responsible of everything else (social media etc..) During the day, they are working. Be prepared to have some/many alone time if there is no other workaway. There is Natalie a worker who is there in the morning chores all the summer. You need to be comfortable with the fact that you will be in full sole charge of the barn. You can text Kat whenever you have questions too even if she is not there and she will gadly respond you.
I own a car, so I could travel a lot and visit places. I did improve a lot my english with the help of Nikki, Kat, Natalie, Miriam and all the people I have meet who live in campbellford.
I had school during all of my stay. So don't worry if you have school, you will have plenty of time to concentrate on your work.
You need to cook your meal and clean all your dishes when you are done. Vegan food is great so don't worry.
Overall I really encourage you to go and to help with the animal you will not be disapoint! I enjoy my stay here and i am going to miss the place.Du kannst nur Workawayer mit aktiver Mitgliedschaft kontaktieren.

I came here on the 2nd of April and will stay until the end of May. Since they're still looking for further workawayers, feedback from a volunteer should be helpful. I work approximately 4-5 hours a day. Despite the morning chores, I'm flexible in planning my working day.
So here's a brief overview of the morning chores:
Start at 7 am (always,
… read more since the animals are already awake at sunrise)
Soak in the pig's pellets, feeding them later
Feed and refill the water buckets for the ducks
Refill water buckets, refill hey for the ponies & donkey, brush them, and muck out their stall
Muck out any other horse stall, if used
Feed the cats inside the barn
Feed and refill water buckets for the roosters, let them out in their area (the groups have to be separate due to fights)
Check if horses have hay & water
Let out sheep & goats, refill water bucket, restock hay
Bring hens in their outdoor stall, feed them, refill the water bucket
If it's necessary: muck out/ clean out any other stall, clean the area around the pond
Additionally, I do a lot of cleaning around the farm. Sometimes Kat has more tasks for me during the week (self-initiative required). If I have not already worked for 5 hours a day, I'm also responsible for the evening chores. That includes taking away the chicken food, refilling hay for the ponies, refilling some water buckets if necessary, and locking everybody in.
Moreover, I check every animal's health and inform Kat if something's off.
I have relaxed days, and I do have a lot of free time. But I also have exhausting days when I clean out a big stall or have more time-consuming tasks than usual. Even though it is "just" 5 hours a day/ 5 days a week, you should not underestimate the farm work.
Despite the work on the farm, Kat and her daughter are very kind and generous. They take me to the city, cafes, and grocery shopping whenever I want and have no expenses. The least I can do is to help wherever I can. Although Campbelleford is just a 5-minute car drive from the farm, there is no transportation to town or cities other than by car. That's why you probably spend the most time on the farm. Therefore, a travel-buddy would be a nice idea.
Living in their house rent-free doesn't mean I'm their guest. It means I'm as responsible for the cooking and cleaning as everybody else. Everybody here is vegan, especially since it is an animal sanctuary. Although I have flexible free time, this is not a chilled vacation. Keeping this in mind, it is definitely worth coming here. It already feels like home.
